Hi all, I suffer from Endometriosis and PCOS and have not been able to get pregnant for a while, I am on the waiting list for a laparoscopy and currently take Metformin to help me ovulate. Although I have a period every month, I do not always ovulate despite taking the Metformin. I am desperate to see the consultant again but have been told there is nothing till September so am considering private healthcare. I feel really fed up and emotionally down as scans suggest my endometriosis is getting bigger yet I am still waiting for the laparoscopy. Does anyone else have fertility issues with endometriosis?

Unfortunately I think everyone with endo suffers fertility problems, but obviously this only manifests itself of you are actually trying to get pregnant. I was ttc for 3 years and eventually got my lap. Pain didn't go away but drastically reduced overnight and I conceived in less than 6 months afterwards. We unfortunately lost the baby at nearly 14 weeks due to complications but so glad to have finally figured out what the problem was. If you're on the waiting list for a lap it shouldn't be too long and then you can take it from there. Good luck x
Thank you for your reply and I am sorry to hear you lost your first baby. I am on the waiting list for the lap, probably have it around September according to waiting time. It helps to know that I am not the only one with endo who is finding is hard, I really appreciate you taking your time out to reply. Good luck to you too. x
Have you spoken to your consultant or gp about clomid? Its a fertility drug that makes you ovulate.
I would ask for a scan of your ovaries to see if you are currently having lots of cysts. Also do you know if your endo affects your ovaries? If your ovaries and tubes are ok then you should be fine.
How long have you been trying for? Average for most people not affected by endo is anywhere up to two years. I know its stressful and heartbreaking but dont give up yet xxxx
Hi, thank you for replying to my comment. I have managed to get a appointment on the 16th in which I am going to discuss taking clomid. The scan shows that the endo is around both my ovaries and obviously with the PCOS there are several cysts anyway. My endo has grown over a matter of months. The consultant said that when they perform my lap, they will look to see if my tubes are ok. I suppose I wont know much until my lap happens. I have been trying since Sept last year and was referred to the consultant in Jan this year. Thank you for your kind words, have to keep trying as that's all we can do. I appreciate you taking your time to message me, Thanks. x
Well ask for a dye test during the lap. They run dye through your tubes to see if they are clear. If not they can attempt to clear them and just having the test can help. As can a lap so stay positive
As for pcos you aren't constantly covered in cysts, you have peak times. But everyone is different, mine come and go through my cycle then I'll grow a massive one out of nowhere.
We all know how scary and heartbreaking this is. I'm not sure private care will make a difference. Just having endo can affect fertility but there are so many women who have success. I was told no chance and pregnant with no 2! Those 2 weeks every month are so hard. The month I fell pregnant this time they told me I hadn't ovulated and gave me clomid. Never got to take it stay strong lovely xxx
Hi, I remember the consultant saying something about the dye. I did not realise that with PCOS, cysts have peak times, thanks for this info. I think I thought of private care to see a consultant in desperation, however I literally had to beg the secretary to make me a appointment asap otherwise they wanted me to wait till September. I am really happy to hear you have managed to get pregnant, in a way that gives me hope. I will try and stay strong and not give myself time limits, I know in time I will get pregnant. Thanks once again for supporting me. xxx
