Hello ladies, I tend to get very bad hip pain but I really like to exercise. I like to do body pump (weight training to music) but my hip tends to be very painful when I do it. Is it safe to still do it? Or will i cause damage? I'm only able to go for the week that i don't have pain each month!
Exercising? : Hello ladies, I tend to get... - Endometriosis UK
Exercising?
Personally id ask my gp what they think.x sorry thats not helpful but a medical expert would know more xx
I agree with pixie125, best to get a medical proffesionals opinion on this as there could be a number of causes for your hip pain and that could determine what exercise is suitable.
I would however recommend swimming. It is one of the best ways of exercising, particularly as it doesn't place stress on joints. When I did my knee in I was limited to swimming without using my legs and walking in the pool as recommended by my physio at the time. You can get a really good cardio and core workout swimming without using your legs, especially if you grip a float between your knees and pull in your pelvic floor muscles.
Best wishes, Jo
Hi.
I recently saw a physio lady whilst I was I'm hospital due to pain.
She advised me that during my wait for my outpatient appointments to come through that the best kind of exercise with endometriosis is yoga and plates and walking.
You should not be doing any strenuous activity where you are actually feeling like you are causing pain, before my endo symptoms had got unbearable I was running and doing alot of cardiovascular exercises which was causing my pain and I continued to push through it for a while thinking it would get better buy it got to the point I was struggling to walk.
I definately feel the benefits of daily yoga even when I have to force myself because I don't feel like it, I really miss running and cardio exercise but I think it really is doing you more damage then good if you are in pain after.
I hoe this helps
Jo xx
Sorry that was pilates not plates x
I wouldn't dare do Pilates with my abdo pain. I had a great teacher but they moved the class times about 18 months ago so I switched to a different core class. Pilates done well will strengthen muscles but also pushes muscles until the tremor and aching the next day was expected. No way my body would stand for that. I have tried an easier CXWorx ab class since having my issues but even at easy option it is a no go - too much focussed effort on the abdomen spells disaster for me.
Like one of the other posters I have had to really knock down my gym sessions and it is sooo rubbish. I find swimming is the most boring thing - at least on a run you can see things going on along the way or in people's houses!
I am thinking of doing Body Balance or Yoga - just waiting for the new gym timetable to see what fits.
I enjoy swimming and wanted to try yoga but my gym does the sessions during the day when I'm at work. I also went to the Royal Cornwall Show yesterday where I did alot of walking and i woke up today and can hardly turn over in bed!
I think swimming seems to be the best bet. Thank you ladies for your helpful comments
