Ok, so I posted a little while ago to ask about brown spotting and I know a lot of people said it was all part of Endo and common for a few days or so before your period. My question now is, what about prolonged brown spotting?! Mines been going on now for almost 2 weeks. The doctors have done swabs to check for infection and I should get those results back on Tuesday but I was wondering if it could be Endo related? Xx
Prolonged brown spotting...: Ok, so I... - Endometriosis UK
Prolonged brown spotting...
brown rather than red blood indicates old rather than fresh blood. I have endometriosis and I get prolonged bleeding and spotting which includes both bright and brown blood, but my friends with pcos do also. What other symptoms do you have?
I have a lot of lower back and pelvic pain that usually flares us much worse around my period, sometimes pain during sex, irregular periods, ibs type symptoms, sometimes heavy periods but sometimes light. Pretty much always very painful though. I do have cysts on my right ovary but I don't seem to have any other pcos symptoms (overweight, hair growth, problems conceiving etc). I have a gynaecologist appointment with an Endo specialist on 11th June so hopefully I can get answers then but its nice to gather some information beforehand! Xx
Hi, Iv been taking the pill back to back for 6 months now, and had my lap 2minths ago confirming endo stage 3. I had 2 weeks of brown spotting, which then turned to light bleeding for another 2weeks and has now progressed to a heavy period, even though I'm not supposed to be having periods. I phoned the Doctor but she didn't seem overly concerned and am waiting to see an endo specialist. Can't help to say if it's normal or not, but I have the same as u so it cud be endo related. X
Hiya gemp54 I have severe endo & would say that I have brown dead blood (sorry TMI) for about 3wks of the month,it varies in amount increasing before & after periods but it is there most of time,I am sure it's just another wonder of endo best wishes
Hi this may sound weird but I'm so happy to find someone who shares the same symptoms as me. I get heavy brown bleeding exactly 14 days after my period this can go on for weeks. I feel nauseous dizzy ibs symptoms pain in my lower back legs feel heavy...I have my lap on 19th June. I've just stopped taking medication I was prescribed for endo as I've literally bled for the whole of may. X
Thanks for this post. I have same symptoms as yours. My brown spotting has been going on for 2-3 weeks since my period. I thought it was withdrawal bleeding as I am in my second month of taking Qlaira for my endometriosis. Based on this thread, I'm now wondering if I should ask/see my gyne about this before our July followup checkup.
Your symptoms together do sound like endometriosis, or at least my endo. The prolonged bleeding is a pain, I think my record was 48 days off bleeding followed by 10 days off then another period so I sympathise.
Prolonged, erratic bleeding and pain are pretty much the norm for me and other friends with endometriosis but I also have friends with the same bleeding issue who had fibroids, adenomysis and pcos. I'm not suggesting you do, just that gynaecological disorders are complex and often you can have more than one
Hi gemp54
I have been seeing these brown spotting on my underwear for quite a while now to and my last period was 11 and a half years ago. I am waiting for my doctor to call me for an appointment to see a specialist who deals with endometriosis and seeing that i am not having periods, I ask myself "What is happening with me"? I also have terrible back ache especially in the lower back with fibromyalgia, calf and shin on both legs keep swelling and get very hot so could this be related to endo like you are experiencing ? Sorry to answer your question with my question if it makes any sense. I hope your results for any infections come back clear. I'm really confused. Sorry. xx :-((
Hi mindful579, yeah I have awful lower back and pelvic pain on and off. Its usually around the time of my period although that's always very irregular. I do have a lot of other aches and pains as well, mostly in my forearms and neck and fibromyalgia has been mentioned to me too although I've never seen a doctor about that. I've had an internal and external pelvic scan a couple of months ago and ruled out polyps or fibroids and other than a retroverted uterus and cysts on my right ovary nothing else was found so assuming there's no infection next step is to see an Endo specialist. Xx
So for anyone who was interested my swabs came back clear for infection. I'm still having brown spotting 2 1/2 weeks and counting so I guess I'll just have to mention it at y gynaecologist appointment on 11th June. Xx
Hey
I have found i have brown spotting quite a lot, it almost seems like its more than bleeding lately! Me and my partner refer to it as 'gunk'...its quite disgusting really! Your deffo not alone though! I did tell my GP, but she didnt really think much to it, and i have absolutely no clue as to what the relation is to endo?!
I have the same symptoms as you've described in other comments, just no cysts (although the surgeon did burst a 'functional cyst' when he was having a look during my Lap, so wondering if its all related?!
Anyway, your not alone
Emma Xx
