Brown discharge instead of blood
Hi,
I’m currently suffering with the same problem. I had laparoscopy in January just gone, and since then I had a lot of problems, they’ve put me on the depo injection to try stop my bleeding which hasn’t worked and hasn’t stopped my periods also.
But I am having the exact same kind of bleeding as you, and I haven’t had any answer from the GP about it either. X
My periods got to a point where I always had 3-4 days of brown spotting first. My gynaecologist said it’s old blood and usually a sign of endometriosis x
I have this every month for around 3 days, told its the old blood, then the main menstrual bleed comes!
Re constipation, try taking magnesium supplements, I suffer too but since taking magnesium it’s much better. Before that I used to find once my period had started I could go but not in the days before. Vit c effervescent tablets are another way to go, take 1 an hour until you go. I could get upto 10 before going but everyone is different.
Hope it helps
I experienced something like this when I had the implant, it started towards the end of my first implant and I first mentioned it to the nurse when I went to get my smear and she told me that it sounded like old blood it was perhaps from the hormones in my implant wearing off. I had it replaced a few months later but the issue just got worse. I would be discharging old blood and this would go on for 2-3 weeks (not great when in a new relationship at the time!). I then started asking my mum questions as I knew she had similar issues when she was my age and that’s when she told me about her endometriosis and all of the other ladies in my family. The gp put me on the mini pill to double up on hormones and that stopped this bleeding with in a day. I decided to have the implant removed and continue with the mini pill and thankfully this issue hasn’t returned!
I get about a week of this usually before my period, as said above - my gynae has said that this is old blood and a sign of endo. I’ve sort of just got used to it now, as it’s been happening for the last year or so and just see it as part of me coming on. I’ve got my diagnostic lap tomorrow and I’m hoping they find something!
