Hi ladies - does anyone find their mid cycle pain worse than the period pain? Mine is awful this week. The GP was quite surprised and wondered why it happened! Does anyone know why ovulation is so painful? Thankyou x

My endo pain was at ovulation week not period week but then I found out my Fallopian tubes and ovaries were stuck to my pelvis completely which probably explains ovulation pain - nothing worked for my pain I ended up with endo excision and radical hysterectomy and I am now pain free. Obviously if you are young or without children hysterectomy is not option but endo excision and sorting out adhesions is x best of luck x

My pain lasts from the day my period starts until I (think I) ovulate. I get sharp cramping during my period and then a heavy, aching and burning feeling afterwards. Often this is worse than my period and it takes me all my energy to drag myself out of bed. It's neither one side nor the other, which I think is common for ovulation pain, but very central pelvic pain. My tummy also feels hard and bulky during this time. I have fibroids too so no idea whether it is these or the endo that contribute to this pain.

Hello, this is one of the problems I have a severe mid cycle pain that lasts about 2 hours. It feels like there isn't enough room for everything, I often struggle to speak or walk when it's happening the only thing that helps slightly for me Is to sit on all fours. That way I feel safe I'm not going to fall if I pass out and it also seems to dull the pain slightly (painkillers don't work. After it I feel awful for days. I was told I had mittelschmerz for about 8 years as nothing ever showed up on an ultrasound. I've just had a laparoscopy and I had one chocolate cyst on an ovary that burst when they mobilised my ovary, a blocked Fallopian tube and a nodule of endometriosis connecting my uterus to my bowel. The only plan at the moment seems to be focusing on the nodule (I'm waiting on a MRI). The nodule is being blamed for all the pain but I can't help but think a blocked Fallopian tube would be painful, there are no plans for fixing it tho. Although it is every month so I suppose it can't be the one side every month. I have a lot of ibs like problems too. Do you know what sort of endometriosis you have pea-twin? xx

My endo started with mid cycle pain that got progressively worse. The pain also eventually happened daily. My cycles also changed so that my periods lasted longer and happened more frequently.

I also have the burning pain which last for hours.Nothing showed up in ultrasound. However they found endo on my bladder during my lap. I'm now trying morphine as tramadol and everything else they tried did not get rid of the pain. This is for the burning pain (bladder) as well as kidney pain.

I'm having an mri next week to check for adenomyosis. Regardless of what they find my cons will be listing me for further surgery.

Gps shouldn't use ultrasound to rule out endo as it isn't fully accurate. The lap is the only way they spotted mine. Also if you do see a gynae be prepared for what they might say if your symptoms don't tick the normal boxes. first gynae I saw said my pain isn't cyclical enough to be endo and most ppl don't describe a burning pain if they have endo.

Hugs

xx

6 years ago I was told by a gynaecologist that he couldn't tell me why I have so much pain with ovulation and to be honest at that time I didn't know another person who suffered like I do each month but since joing this forum a while ago now I am amazed at the number of ladies on here who suffer like I do each month. I so wish I could show all theses queries from other ladies to my old gynaecologist. My story is periods started at 12 mid cycle pain at 15 I used to experience the pain for at least 48 hours. After the birth of my son almost 12 years ago the pain now lasts from a minimum of 5 days (if lucky) to a max of 10 with an average of 7 days. No pain killers work a hot water bottle if possible makes me feel more comfortable. Last year I was offered a full hysterectomy with removal of both ovaries but I was 42 at the time and I didn't want to be thrown straight into the menopause and a hysterectomy doesn't cure Endo.

So I feel your pain and how miserable it can make you feel, sorry I don't have any answers for you as like you I am still waiting for answers xx

I've had mid-cycle pain since I started my periods but I don't think it was all down to endo. It used to just be as if I could feel the egg travelling down my Fallopian tube. It's definitely been worse the last few years - I can have pain at any time.

KEEP SHARING YOUR STORIES, we help each other in more ways than one <3

I've been going through mid-cyle pain for about four years now. For me, it seems to affect my entire digestive tract. My doctor suggested it was IBS, so I made diet related changes- I stopped sugar, gluten, dairy, egg, everything. It did not help. It hits me like clockwork every month, 10-14 days after my period. I knew it coincided with my ovulation, but doctors kept suggesting diet.

I noticed that Gabapentin (which I used to take for neuropathy) helps, along with Naproxen.

For me, I spend a couple of days feeling very tender in my abdomen, which is the precursor to the misery. The day it hits me, I cannot stand up. Literally, any position beyond 90 degrees is excruciating, and walking adds to the pressure of the inflammation. Going the bathroom is like childbirth (no joke). This is the worst part, and usually subsides within a day, but leaves me feeling very tender for another day or two. All in all, the process can easily swallow up an entire week.

A week, of raising two kids, taking classes, cleaning house, cooking meals, walking dogs, grocery shopping... As I'm irritable, often in tears. My ten year old son has gotten used to helping me, and forgiving me when I snap at him- which I do, because sometimes I can't stand up long enough to wait for him to crawl into bed at night, and all I want to do is tuck him in so I can lay down.

Today is my misery day this month. Which is why I'm venting a little.... THANK YOU for sharing your stories. This is debilitating, and no one really understands how awful the pain can be; even though the pain is unbearable, knowing you ladies are pushing through it helps me persevere

****Not just that, but someone posted about how the endo had caused her fallopian tubes to adhere to her insides, which made ovulation extremely painful, and that could be what's going on with me; SO I am going to ask my doctor to look into it. Maybe I will find a solution, even if it's temporary. ****
