hello, ive got mine on the 21st march, ive got some peppermint tea, for the air there put in you, and im getting a new dressing gown, coz mine is old and I have onsies, that might not be suitable, also lip seal and pillow for on way home, sanitry towels, book, puzzle books ect.
Hi ya .... Easy to slip on shoes is a must as bending down will be difficult.. i wore loose joggers and loose tshirt... I requested large sticky dressings as the incisons were rubbing on my clothes. Make sure you have enough pillows at home to prop you up in bed or on sofa as laying down can be difficult after. Id say make sure some stays with you as you may need some help getting up and sitting down. Maybe wash hair morning of op and you wont need to for a few days. Might now be up to showering the next day but i found due to not being able to bend properly i laid a towel in floor incase i slipped a bit. I needed help in and out as mines in the bath. My partner helpped dry me as i couldnt bend. If you feel down then message on here too as everyones been soo supportive and im 4weeks into my recovery from my 2nd lapo... I learned alot after my 1st.. esp the standing on a towel in the shower and not bathing as getting out was really hard alone.x good luck xx hope this helpped!
Will be thinking of you durdledoor! I'm having my second mri scan same day as your op. List of things for you.
Wear something comfy and not tight around your waist. Pillows for car seat belts are really uncomfortable, get some windeze to help disperse the gas as that can be really painful, throat sweets as tube down throat can be sore afterwards, your own sanitary pads cos hospital ones are from the stoneage! Small overnight bag with slipper, dressing gown, toiletries etc. Loads of girlie movies and mags for recovery time, and drink plenty of water and get loads of rest, don't over do it too quickly as it takes time to heal. Eat light meals and good luck xx
Thanks Pixie and Victoria for your brilliant in depth replies, you have been so helpful. I will make sure I have these things ready and waiting for me xx
Hi there. I've had 3 laps now and found my must haves are......
A sippy cup-one of those plastic cups that have a straw and a lid. So when you want a drink you don't have so much bending. And (I know it may seem alien) maternity leggings. I also still use mine for 'bad days' as they aren't restricting around the belly area. I have h and m ones, great quality and under £10! also ice poles, you do get a very dry throat. I'd would also advise a note pad and pen so you can write down what they tell you when you're discharged as you will be very dopey (and dosed up on painkillers) so you can remember. Lastly-baby wipes so you can freshen up whilst in bed. Good luck xx
I took some peppermints to eat - helps with the air and I felt v queasy after. Also headphones and music are great as post surgery you can't really concentrate on books etc. Good luck and I hope it all goes well! xx
