Hi! I've just made a video about what Endometriosis is, to go alongside my videos about the training I am completing ahead of my Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle in September, please have a look and share.
I have to say, at start, I wasn't sure about a male representing women's condition.
And the reason why I thought I'd watch it is because my husband and I are into cycling.
However, this is actually very therapeutic for me. It is nice to know someone male actually cares about the condition and knows and understands it so well! I hope my husband will watch your video and gain more understanding of Endometeriosis.
Good luck with your Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle trip in September!
I was only diagnosed with the condition in October 2014 and still finding out the best treatment to deal with the severe case but while I was recovering from Laparoscopy surgery, I entered into Dartmoor Classic for this June! (Doing 100K) I am hoping I can control my pain/condition and finish it. I think having a goal or two makes me keep going despite the difficulty in life.
I think you covered so much and for people with misconceptions. It really shows how much you care and unfair this condition is.
The only thing I would say is maybe make a shorter one 2-3 mins to share on FB so that people who do not have a vested interest watch. I think 10 mins can be a long video for the FB forum.
Hi! Thanks so much, I couldn't agree more that I need to do a shorter one, just found that once I started to talk, there was so much more that kept on coming out of the woodwork and it felt unjust to miss out some of the bits, as it is such a vast illness.
Hi AkiBoo, I understand why it might come across as a little strange, I have had to think very hard and carefully about the way to present the info that I've put into the videos. I aim to keep digging and finding out some more info and any hints that I might be able to offer, I will also be keeping the next videos a little shorter - I was just finding it very difficult to determine what bit should be in the first 'what is endo' so decided to keep most of it in there!
I couldn't agree more that having a goal is up there in the list of keeping you going, all the best for your 100k, keep us informed!
Thank you so much for caring, we could do with you as a medical professionals, do you fancy changing carers lol, I will so my husband later, as its a simple and good way of understanding, good luck and I'll be contributing to this wonder charity
Thanks Tboag, I think one of the issues is the lack of knowledge and sympathy from the professionals aswell, some of the Doctors I have witnessed have incredibly disgusting bedside manner and literally 'fob' off the pain as imaginary, we need to do all we can to get people to understand this!
