Has anyone been prescribed Prostap injections?

I had a laparoscopy 10 days ago and it was confirmed I have Endometriosis. My constulant want to start me on Prostap injections to put me in the menopause. I have search the Internet and the side effects sound horrific. Has anyone else been on Prostap and what side effects did you have. Thanks

Hi,

I was on prostap for 6 months last year and the only side effects I got was hot sweats and I could be a bit moody but other than that I was fine.

I was also really worried about how it was going to affect me but it weren't too bad

Hi, Ive had 2 courses of injections - 1st time without HRT I had hot flushes, mood swings, insomnia, anxiety, depression. 2nd time, with HRT I didnt have any real side effects, but the endo pain didnt completely go - I got occasional twinges of pain. Have you asked how long they intend you to have the injections for? 6months in a lifetime is the recommended maximum - I asked for a referral to an endo specialist as my gynae wanted me to have 1 year off, 1 year on injections until menopause (I'm 44, so could be 10 years!). If you have the injections, ask for the monthly ones to start with, then if you do have bad side effects you don't have to wait as long for it to leave your system.
