Prostap Injections

I am due to have my first Prostap Injection tomorrow (6month course) and I am just wondering if anyone has experienced any weight increase? Also should I expect any pain after the injection etc. Any help/insight would be great as I don't know anyone who has had Hormone Injections to discuss this with.

Hi Beth, Been on Prostap in the past and for me I was worried about weight increase but the opposite happened. Lost my appetite and did loose weight. My daily pain did worsen for a few weeks after the injection but that is normal as your hormone levels soar and then drop. For me the injections provided pain relief but I found the side effects tough at times. Really hope it helps you x

Thank you for responding. I know it makes me sound vain wondering about my weight but i just wondered. Fingers crossed my body has a similar response to yours regarding food. Hope the pain doesn't last too long in to the injections its just about bearable at the moment. Not looking forward mood swings and hot sweats but guess its gotta be done. Xx

I'm currently on Prostap but the monthly ones. I have previously had the 3 monthly and the 6 month ones. I've never put on any weight either. I also did not suffer any side affects such as insomnia or hot flushes. However, a few weeks after the first injection, I did suffer with terrible headaches but that was due to the surge in hormones and then it went. The Prostap gave me a new lease of life as I was pain free. it's a shame you can't take it long term. I hope this info helps x

I really hope that my side affects are minimal like yours,as I don't want my work life to be affected too much. I can live with a couple of weeks of pain if it will ease the pain after. Fingers crossed. Xx

I also completely lost my appetite, i lost weight onsistently, until the week it was wearing off when my appetite would come back with a vengeance hahaha and then id have my injection again and appetite gone ;) the only symptoms i really got were a generally achey/fluey feeling? but thats much better than the endo pains! xx

I had my last injection at the end of August after a course of monthly injections for 6 months.

I bled heavily for the first 14 days after my first injection, but didn't bleed at all after that until my periods returned in November.

I suffered terribly with side effects which really affected my day to day and work life and lost weight when I first started Prostap, but put weight on after the last one and I am losing it again now. It is definitely a rollercoaster!

Fingers crossed you won't have side effects! x

I'm now on my third course. The first two months have always been horrendous - massive increase in symptoms to the point of not wanting to do it any more. Then I wake up one day and it's all stopped. Last time I took up long-distance running and lost 22lbs!

The side effects were about 1% of my symptoms without but you will get some hot flushes and feeling a bit odd, especially if you find that the 28-day injections only last 24 days like they did for me.

Not what you're looking for?
