Yep I had one and it all came back clear. Then had a lap a few weeks later which showed minimal endo THEN an op with top endo surgeon it turned out I had widespread endo! Just be aware that if it comes back clear that does not mean you do t have endo. I'm proof of that! X

Hi. Yeah I had a mri scan in June, they couldn't see endo, but they suspected it. They did a laposcrophy to remove cysts I had on ovary and they also found endo which they removed at same time. Laposcrophy is only way to know for sure. X

Yes has MRI yesterday but purely to see how much of my bowel was stuck together ahead of full hysterectomy and bowel surgery (2nd time ) caused purely by endo!

Hi hun,

Unfortunately the only way that endo can be diagnosed is with a laparoscopy, & even then it needs to be done ideally by a specialist otherwise it can be missed. I went for years being told I just had PCOS & possible IBS. When I was finally referred to a specialist he did an ultrasound & told me that he wanted to do a lap because my bowels looked very full of fluid/gas. He told me that the only way they can diagnose endo was to do the lap as it is extremely rare to be able to see it from a scan, even if it is severe. In April this year I had my first lap & was diagnosed with stage IV endo & adenmyosis as well as polycystic ovary syndrome. I've had lots of MRI scans since my early teens, as well as CT's & ultrasounds. MRI, CT's & ultrasounds can show up PCOS though- that was how I found out a few years ago that I had PCOS. Dont let the doctors fob you off by telling you that a scan shows endo because it doesn't, & never be afraid to ask for a second opinion. Hope this helps :)

I'm due to have one - my endo was diagnosed by laparoscopy (stage 4) and my new consultant wants the MRI so he can see exactly what organs are stuck together where, before we decide if a hysterectomy is an option. The surgeon couldnt see much during the lap because of all the adhesions, which is why an MRI is necessary.

I had one to see if endo had penetrated my bladder wall-it showed an endo nodule. Think it will only show nodules, cysts, organs pulled out of place etc, not flat lesions. x
