So today i've had my MRI, not sure what they expect to find and just wondered if anyone has had endo diagnosed this way. Any input would be great.

Hi heidi, Well they didn't find any endo on my pelvic MRI as you know, but will be very interesting to read other peoples responses.

Glad your MRI went ok for you

Hi

My endo was diagnosed by MRI. The first two scans came back normal, but when they used the contrast dye it showed up. I think it depends how severe it is? Hope you don't have long to find out?! X PS I had buscapan too!

Hi I had two ultrasounds which showed a cyst but wasn't certain if it was a cysts, endometriomas or something worse, so I was then sent for an MRI scan which showed endometriomas and endometriosis. The consultant said she was as certain as they could be that I had endo at that point. Just over a month later I had the laparoscopy / hysteroscopy and the MRI scan was correct, the only thing is that it didn't show up all of it. I got my results back today and there was a lot more of it scattered around which has been ablated. I am still recovering from the op. I think in my experience MRI scans will recognise endo pending on what stage it is at. Ultra sounds for me weren't helpful at all. Hope this helps and let us know how you get on. L x

Hi Lisa thanks for the reply, I had a transvaginal u/s and an ultrasound 2 years ago which just showed i had polyps which i had removed and my womb biopsied but no Endo showed up on any of them. Any way after still suffering heavy bleeding and pain i had a hysterectomy last march and still no Endo was spotted. I was still in pain post hysterectomy so have been having prostap monthly which has helped. I really just want to get to the bottom of it now I've not been right since my periods started at 10. I will let you know how i get on. Thankyou xx

I had an MRI a few years ago which showed nothing. 2 weeks after that I was rushed into hospital with extreme pain,an operation found my right ovary and Fallopian tube riddled with endo. So badly damaged they were removed. An MRI won't always show endo x

My endo was basically diagnosed by MRI and classed as severe even before the consultant had operated on me. My MRI was crucial as I'd been fobbed off by a registrar! So if it wasn't for my GP requesting the MRI I would never have known my kidney was being affected by it!!
