I've been taking cerelle for a while now and have actually lost weight. I've not noticed any symptoms of depression...everyone has their not so good days but nothing out of the ordinary. Remember...you only ever hear the not so good things...there are loads of women that take it that never have any problems.

You won't know - till you try it - and if the side effects are too grim then speak to your GP and switch to a different method - there are so many to try and each has a different hormone dosage and it may only take a very slight adjustment in dose to find something that suits you a lot better - never give up trying as we are all different and what works for one doesn't work for all. It's a journey of discovery to try them and find a method you are happy with.

Personally - I am now on mirena coil (about 20% of the hormone dose of pills) and it stopped my periods completely and Ican't feel it and it's been fab. I've had it in 3 years and it lasts 5 years. no tablets to have to take or anything - just forget it is there and working. I will definitely be getting a new one in to replace this when it runs out.

And I lost weight with mirena - I believe this was down to me being able to be a whole lot more active than i was before - because I am no longer having periods and curled up on the sofa an emotional and physical wreck for much of the month.

If I have a ovarian cyst should I be on mini pill as it says you may not be able to take it if you have a cyst . My gp told me to try it . I am scared it might cause me to have more cysts. Do u think I should stop takin it .

I have just started taking Cerazette (which apparently is the same thing as Cerelle just a different brand) yesterday. Obviously no side effects yet but I am nervous about that too as have suffered anxiety and mild depression in the past and have read that that makes you more prone to those side effects.

I have been given it as I didn't want to try injections unless there was no other option and so the gynaecologist I saw last week prescribed cerazette instead to try for 6 months and if there isn't a significant improvement in that time then she wants to try something else :(

Hopefully it will help us both! Good luck!

I'm very hormone sensitive, been on cerelle for years and never put weight on and it's never affected my mood. It's been the best thing ever!

I've been on both cerelle and cerazette. I was on cerazette for 2 years and it was fab. Fast track to now and I started taking cerelle at the end of last year and I took it for 8 months...had normal periods for first couple of months and that was when my pain was worst and then when my periods and pain stopped pretty much I had side effects from the pill. I guess my body just didn't agree with dosage...constant night sweats and oily skin.

But as most will say, everyone is different. Maybe I did stuck it out it would have calmed.

I'm trying the coil next I think!
