Trying to get pregnant after laparotomy, advice please...

After being told i have endo, and a large cyst on/ near ovary, they performed a laparotomy (6 weeks ago) instead of laparoscopy, they removed most of endo and cyst, but said under microscope it is still there. i have been trying to get pregnant for nearly two years and to prevent endo coming back, they have put me on the pill (yasmins) with no break! so no chance of getting pregnant

has anybody else been through this and is there a solution?

I used a combination of mefenamic acid and tranexamic acid for my endo as I wanted to remain fertile as we were also trying to get pregnant when I found out I had endo. One pill was for the pain and the other to lessen the blood flow. I've tried them independently of each other in the past and they did nothing, but together they were great. Everyone is different but there are other options available to you, not just the pill. Go and see a gp and explain what you want.

I have endo and pcos. I hope my (longish) story helps: I was put on the pill when I was 18 because of my pcos (I had endo symptoms but I hadn't been diagnosed then). I stayed on the pill for 9 years (Yasmin/ Diana/ Dianette - can't remember which order - this was back in the 1980s and 1990s so some of those may no longer be prescribed). During that time I lead quite a healthy, stress free lifestyle which may have helped - exercise, good social life etc. I stopped taking the pill when I was 27 to see if I was ovulating as My hubby and I wanted to have children at some stage and I fell pregnant within 1 or 2 months. I believe the pill controlled my unbalanced hormones and made my endo less severe, giving my body the chance to fall pregnant when I stopped the pill. You may find this happens to you. I fell pregnant again 7 months after having my first child while still breast feeding but then was unable to have a third child throughout my 30s and 40s (I had 3 miscarriages) so I believe the pill and then pregnancy/ breast feeding controlled my hormones and endo and gave me my only chance of having children. My endo is now so severe I'm unable to work and awaiting surgery. The other option is to try to get excision surgery now at an accredited endo centre or total pelvic excision which is what I'm hoping to have next month to try to get rid of the endo once and for all.
