I have endometriosis since 2010 had lap. surgery still have pain every day . I have UTI every month I take antibiotics for six months every night to stop the UTIs and then the doctor will take me off of them for a while. The doctor wants me to go have a IVP DONE. I don't know if I should have it done since people say UTI and endometriosis are not related. I don't see how the IVP will help my surgery for endo. did not help me.

cobf.websitetoolbox.com/?fo... i found this forum to be a big help for me and my issues. I also have Endo on my bladder which mimics symptoms. All sorts if things cause problems for bladders, including hormones. Have a look and see what would help. I've had bladder issues for 2 years now.

Who says they are not related?

Quite the opposite, ecoli in the urinary tract is found to be much much higher statistically in ladies with endo. This fact has been known for some time and discussed on this forum many times as it happens to so many of us. Use the search box and type in Biofilm and ecoli or e-coli and you can see many of the previous discussions.

I have had many IVPs. They are not a problem at all.

I have had mine every time I have had Kidney Stone attacks, and it dyes the kidneys and ureters so they show up on x-ray and surgeons can spot if there are any problems with the actual plumbing, if constricted anywhere or a stone is stuck. it checks that both kidneys are working and can look for any growths or problems within the kidneys themselves which may indicate internal scarring and damage.

It is a simple test, that you lie back on the x-ray machine or scanner and the dye is injected in your arm which feels quite warm when it goes in and then they scan or x-ray you several times in the following minutes watching the progress of the dye.

When they have enough images you are able to get up but you will urgently need to go pee, so don't hang about, it can get a bit uncomfy as the bladder fills up and you feel the urge to go toilet rapidly for a pee, but cannot while they are still taking pictures. Apart from that, once you have been to the loo a couple of times to empty the dye out, then you can go home.

Having the IVP if it does show up a problem with your waterworks, is something the surgeons can then check for when they are doing the lap op, to see if endo is causing a problem or if adhesions and scar tissue are compromising the ureters, or if the repeat infections have caused a problem.

In a nutshell E-coli bacteria thrive in women with endo, the master bugs hide inside biofilm pockets of safety in the bladder and cannot be killed by antibiotics which cannot penetrate the biofilm wall.

Our own bodies create the biofilm and protect the master bugs.

The antibiotics will only kill off the children bugs, leaving the master parent ones to wait till the coast is clear of antibiotics and whoosh they get back in to production of more children bugs rapidly causing the infection symptoms to reoccur.

So many women are now resistant to antibiotics that this is an increasingly serious problem which scientists are working on all over the world. How to get antiobiotic drugs that can penetrate biofilm covers and kill the master bugs, or stop our own bodies from creating biofilm layers in the first place.

So you are not getting repeatedly infected, you just haven't got rid of the 1st infection master bugs. This is going on inside you. Has nothing to do with personal hygiene or eating habits or anything that you are doing wrong causing bugs to creep in from outside the urethra and bladder.

Definitely do have the IVP. It may come back all clear, in which case the problems you are experiencing are much more likely to be ecoli in the bladder causing infections which travel up the ureters to the kidneys, but have not yet caused any problems with scarring etc. Or it may show up hints that there is an endo or adhesions issue or a poblem inside the kidneys, as a diagnostic test it is well worth having.

Here are a couple of websites on the UTI with Endo issue

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/230...

This one from 1985 iai.asm.org/content/50/2/50...

but just googling endo and uti will show up hundreds of web pages on this topic too.

I have had great success using an enzyme for biofilm called Nutricology Pancreas (pork), which has reduced the symptoms of endo, I think by eating away at the biofilm in which the bugs were hiding. It is basically just pancreatic enzymes in a very potent (and somewhat affordable) form, which go through your body and eat away at biofilms. It was developed by Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez to treat the biofilms associated with cancer, but for me it is working to help reduce my endo! And, it is basically a food, so it is not toxic or dangerous at all.

Hi Karol,

You used this product on your son as well, correct....you posted on Amazon.com regarding the same product?

Can you give any updates, how are you and your son now?

Wow, good eye! Well, it turns out that my son has an allergy to mold (in the air) as a result of a hospital acquired infection that he got when he was born. Once the infection was gone, the allergy remained. The Pancreas supplement helped his body cope, but what he really needed was six months of vitamin c (about 3 grams per day), B5 (aka Pantothenic Acid, about 2 grams per day), and fish oil (about 3 or 4 grams per day). I have kept him on a modified gaps diet since this reduces inflammatory response and bought him a new mattress. His rash is nearly gone and he sleeps through the night! I have to say that the thing that tipped me off about the allergy (which was then confirmed by a blood test at the dr.) was that I started rubbing olive oil on his skin whenever he would wake up at night scratching. I would rub for at least an hour each day. He soaked up bottles and bottles of olive oil (and primrose and almond oil) until finally his skin was healthy enough to see that he was getting hives at night! That was so exciting because that is a well known symptom of allergies. Soon after that we started the vitamins for allergies (which had cured my husband of his seasonal allergies in the past) and now he has real skin on his legs! I am so thankful for his healing and I believe that it was God who helped me find the truth and not to give up trying.

As for me, I have not had many symptoms of endo that I can remember since I wrote that comment, and as I got better I forgot about taking the pancreas and so I have stopped. I am doing pretty good.

Thanks for asking!

My recurrent UTIs really stem from surgery - as a result of the endo ops I've had sections of my bladder removed three times, so there's now too much scarring to ensure my bladder works as it should. I've tried long term antibiotics and also bladder installations (excellently effective but the procedure was too painful to continue).

I'm now trying a natural remedy called D Mannose - I was sceptical at first but it seems to be improving the situation, even though I still have antibiotics by me if I feel an infection coming on.

I posted a question a few months ago and got some really helpful feedback:
