I haven't had a diagnosis yet for endo, was given zoldadex for three months and have experienced so many side effects, hot flushes, sleep deprivation , pain in calf's and stabbings pains in my eyes when I wake. Can't believe I was given such a harmful dru, without knowing I have your awful disease.
When do symptoms and periods come back af... - Endometriosis UK
When do symptoms and periods come back after zoldadex?
Wowser - I cannot believe they prescribed you Zoladex without even a sure diagnosis of endometriosis. They should have given you a diagnostic laparoscopy first.
Really sorry to hear this. I'd march on back to the Doctor about this. Were you referred to a gynae for this?
I am truly shocked, but it seems they have given you zoladex because it's cheaper than a lap.
I am so angry, yes the gyne was the person to subscribe this. I can't wait to see him in a couple of weeks. Am taking my husband this time! Do you know when the side effects will go? Thanks for the reply xxx
Hi, I was also given Zoladex before a diagnosis or a laparoscopy. The point was to find out if it was endo. The gynae said if the Zoladex worked then it was probably endo and if it didn't then it wasn't! I only had one injection as the side effects were horrific and have since had a lap and still no diagnosis so am currently trying the mirena coil - 3 months in and still waiting for some relief. I think it is fairly commonplace for them to try you on Zoladex before doing a lap. In my experience the side effects went after about 6-7 weeks but I had only had the one injection so it may be longer for you. Good luck x
Hi karrijon what are your symptoms? Zoldadex only helped with mood swings. I still have back and hip pain. Where you pleased not to find anything on your lap? It'sbeen hard not getting diagnosed after years of pain. Thanks for your reply, let's hope we both get some relief soon x
Hi Fiona my symptoms are severe back and hip pain when I ovulate and through my period and pelvic cramps throughout the month. I have had bleeding from the back passage during my periods also so they were convinced it was endo. I think the zoladex had worked and stopped everything after only one injection and after all the side effects the pain did stop but I still couldn't consider another injection. Before my lap I was actually pain free for a few weeks and so I think it was because everything had calmed down after the injection! I was absolutely gutted when they said my lap was clear! Have been desperately wanting a diagnosis for years. I'm 38 and have 4 children. I have now had the mirena for 3 months and the bleeding has got much less bug I am still having lots of pain. Apparently I have to give it another couple of months to see if it works. Have you tried any other treatments? Have they offered you a lap?
Hi the Dr that I saw even before I sat down said I don't know what you are doing here, did you know you can get back pain with period pain, I can give you a lap but I might cut your bowel. I was so shocked that he did not even try to see if my symptoms were of Endo. I just was flabbergasted I didn't fight my corner. My GP is convinced I do have it. I have over 6 years been to orthopaedic consultants, physio, massage, everything. I have three children my last one took nearly 3 years to conceive so I went to have a lap privately which was a mistake as they did not test me for pregnancy, I did not suspect at all that I was, sadly I was pregnant, having had a lap, I discovered I was pregnant, went for a scan and it was not viable so had to have a D&C twice to remove. Nothing was picked up on that lap, but then it wouldn't have as being pregnant at the time. I later had my third child who was 10lb 2 and have had problems ever since. My symptoms are constant back pressure and pain in the hips, periods every two weeks and the pain would be unbearable before my period, very heavy bleeding, mood swings, lack of energy. I am going to push to have a lap, just to rule it out or confirm I do have it. thanks for taking the time to listen. It really does help. xx
