I agree with impaitent thou if u feel comfortable getting it done today I would, coz once you have it done it's over with then and then u can focus on the next step :)

They may still want to examine you but Id imagine it,ll only be externally, you can always call the surgery and explain to the receptionist as she may be able to offer you a new appointment and let your your G.p know.

x

I had the same issue at my 1st appointment with the gynae and he said he wouldnt bother examining me as he had enough idea what was needing to be looked at in the op, from the scans. Phew.

But on the off chance you do need an exam explain that you are on your period right now, and they wont be the least surprised, some ldies never stop bleeding which is why thy see the gynae in the 1st place.

They are extremely used to seeing blood, regular and menstrual, so it wont phase them one bit, but if they see you are uncomfy at the prospect of an examination while on then more likely they will not disturb you down below today if they don't really have to.

Might be an idea to wear a sanitary towel rather than a tampon - just in case but there are loos there too,so if you do need to removed a tampon for the exam and then reinsert one before heading off home then thats certainly do-able.

I know it's kinda embarrassing - but only for you. Not for them. You can refuse an exam if you really dont want one today because of the period bleed, but that's up to you. I think given how difficult it is to get seen by a gynae - it's probably best to do what is asked of you, and have a tidy up in the loos afterwards.

I was on my period for the last internal examination I had! I just explained and the consultant asked if I was still comfortable with her examining me, to be honest I was so desperate for some anwsers that I didn't really mind at all! The look on the face of the poor male trainee doctor was quite the picture though! Its uncomfortable, but what isn't "down there" anyway! good luck!
