Iv just been prescribed BuTrans patches for pain but I'm still hurting? My dr said I have to give it a week to see if it works for me but if I'm honest I don't trust his opinion. When should it start helping my pain? X

Thank you :-)

When did they start helping with your pain because I'm hurting a lot and my dr said I can't take anything else on these :-(

I don't know how long I can wait before I take it off and take something fast acting :-(

Iv been wide awake since 6 yesterday morning so I kind of hope they make me sleepy x x

I was prescribed them after I substained a serious back injury in a car accident.

They started to work relatively quickly but your GP may want to increase the strength of the patches.

The are very strong and you defiantly can't take anything else with them they will knock you out! They should work for pain just see how it goes for a week, if not back x

They haven't knocked me out yet. I'll give it a week then I'm asking for something better because the pain is becoming unbearable :-( I nearly phoned the hospital at 3 this morning :-( x

You can still take paracetamol and ibuprofen just nothing containing opiates like codeine.

Generally the patches need to be started on a low dose and worked up.

These are my next step for my pain too

Butrans is ok. Fentnyl is better.
