Help! Increased pain during sex after 2nd stage lap.

Hi all,

I'm really quite concerned. I had my second lap just over a month ago and am pretty much back on my feet now apart from one aspect.

During sex the pain has changed from a few sharp twinges before my treatment started (the pain really reduced soon after first lap and the triptoroline) to it being pain felt all throughout my abdomen and top of my legs all the time. To the point I've had to stop all together. It feels like there is loads or pressure bing placed on the whole area.

I'm really scared that there has been some damage done or that there is too much scar tissue and this is it.

Has anyone else had this situation? I thought, perhaps naively, that the pain would stay low and it would get better, not worse.

I'm waiting to hear back from the Nurse Practitioner who 'manages' my consultant! Any advice would be of help!

It is probably still far too soon after the op - that's just 4 weeks. You certainly will not be fully healed up inside in just 4 weeks. I'd give the sex a miss for a fortnight more at least and then see how it feels.

The advice is no going to the gym for 10 weeks, so having a sex session is probably on a par with that.

If after a decent healing time sex is still much more painful, then speak to the consultant about it, but I wouldn't worry unduly just yet.

Any time you over do things after surgery and suffer pain as a consequence it is a small set back, a sign you have over done it, and you need to rest up and allow any new damage to heal.

Yea I agree with the above. I find it insane that after a lap they say don't have sex for a few days!! Who wrote that.....a man!!! I had my lap just over 2 weeks ago and the thought of sex couldn't be further from my mind. You need to give yourself more time to heal, we can't see what's going on inside, but don't be fooled into thinking that its all healed that quickly, it's extensive surgery, so wait a bit longer.

It may slightly be too early still. U urself know what ur body can take. Maybe go slowly or lay still let him do the work but soft.

I'm on my 4th week now but not tried sex yet I don't feel ready. Plus my right thigh is killing me with burning sensation, pins n needles and numbness at the minute. I reckon they have damaged a nerve.
