Just a tip since my diagnosis on Thursday. I have endo spread to my urethra which is the tube from the kidney to the bladder and now ? Kidney not functioning properly for which I am awaiting a scan. All blood tests have previously come back normal but I know kidney failure shows up late. I was unable to tolerate all progesterone only treatment because I repeatedly got colds/chest infections and became severely depressed which actually got worse over time maybe this goes along with reduced kidney function so please all ask your gynae for MRI if endo suspected xx vicky
Please ask about your kidney function and... - Endometriosis UK
Please ask about your kidney function and request MRI.
Vicky - the new-ish NHS guidelines for the treatment of severe endo include provision for renal scanning as well as the gynae area. So it should become routine in the ever increasing number of endo centres around the UK.
There are a number of ladies who have had ureter stents installed to keep their pee on the move. The kidneys are still working fine but the pipe work gets constricted enroute to the bladder.
This can also happen internally from kidney stones getting stuck on the way too.
The ureter is about as wide inside as a tear duct in the eye. It doesn't take much to block something so tiny in the 1st place. Whether that is from a stone or from endo or adhesion damage on the outside.
and given their proximity to the ends of the fallopian tubes they are prime targets to get caught up in the battle with endo.
