Very new to all this and found this site so informative. My story is this.... I have always suffered with heavy and painful periods.

I was diagnosed with IBS aged 18 which was problematic until I had my daughter who is now 22. I am 45 btw.

3 years ago I was diagnosed with degenerating fibroids and was advised after MRI that only treatment was hysterectomy. At that point I decided to just accept pain management, I also had a mirena fitted which has stopped my periods.

Then last year I felt I could not continue like this as not only was I still getting pelvic pain but now lower back pain too. After scans I was told the fibroids had not changed in size but the endo on the back wall of my uterus had grown. What? Never had endo ever been mentioned to me

I feel cheated and let down as all my decisions were based on fibroids. I've never been offered investigation or treatment for endo as they never told me I had it.

I'm having a lap tomorrow to investigate and treat so will know more then. Any advise on lap recovery or similar stories will be very much appreciated.

I'm just in the learning stage. I just want to be pain free. Have concerns over side effects of total hysterectomy ( with ovary removal) mood, weight gain, hrt etc.
