Have just received the letter from the hospital with my day case surgery date, thought I was having a lap but apparently also having a hysteroscopy. Does this add to the recovery time and after pain? Had a lap before but just on its own. Thanks.

Having hysteroscopy with laparoscopy
I had a histeroscopy, laparoscopy (to treat) and dye test 2 days ago and they have told me that I should be back at work and doing normal things within 2 weeks. This was my first surgery. From what I can tell I don't have pain from the histeroscopy just from the laparoscopy.
It's pretty common to have both. They go on below to check for fertility - dye test through the tubes - removing polyps, taking biopsies and smear, checking okay for mirena and so on. Honestly didn't notice any difference from that side of things pan wise because of all the work done on the outside of my female plumbing which hurt like crazy when i got upright and tried to walk and it felt like everything was falling out, but my lap op had turned in to a laparotomy - so there bigger issues of concern as it turned out.
Hysteroscopy doesn't add to recovery time- they may not be removing anything or might just tke a swab or smear test. But if they do take cone biopsies those can take a while to stop bleeding - so expect a bit of a blood mess for days afterwards. much like a period.
Impatient you really do seem to know your stuff, thanks for the info x
