On 3 month injection for adonomyosis no period??
What was the drug? Decapeptyl by any chance?
If so it is normal as it puts you in temporary menopause.
shuts down the pituitary gland in the brain (which also contols your temperature regulation hence the sweats) and this also then shuts down the ovaries.
The drug residue stays in the body up to 4 months after the last injection was due.
So traces of the drug will still be inside you for a while.
Meanwhile the pituitary gland will begin to wake up
The first thing you will notice is the temperature regulation comes back, and the gaps between hot flushes gets longer and longer.
Then at some point the ovaries should begin to wake up too.
This on average takes 5 months, with half of women restarting ovulation and periods before the 5 month marker and half taking longer than that.
My periods restarted quickly 4 weeks after the last implant was due, but that is exceptionally fast, if the average is 5 months. We are all different.
Regardless of how long it takes the ovaries to wake up, you should soon begin to see improvements in the side effects caused by the drug, so my advice is when you are feeling better and no longer having side effects, make the most of the free time without your period and adeno pains coming back yet.
It is the best time of all, that in between time, when you are not drugged up but still not back to where you were before the drug.
Because the drug residue can remain inside you for some weeks to come yet, you still need to wear condoms for sex and avod pregnancy at all costs. The drugs are toxic for developing babies so the last thing you want to worry about is an unplanned pregnancy with exposure to the drug. By X-mas you should be in the clear from the drug residue.
Speak with your Doc to get the name of the drug. it sounds like a GnRH drug (of which there are many brands) and they all do pretty much the same thing to us.
When you have the name of it, go online and read the patient advice leaflet. It doesn't sound like you have done that otherwise you wouldn't be worrying at this stage.
Hi thankyou for your reply yes thus is the drug I am currently on sorry for lack of detail as I am abroad and left leaflet at home. I am just worried as these sweats are driving me insane and also so so wanting a baby do you still ovoulate with this drug?
