Depression, Endo & Alternative Medicine........

Does anyone have any recommendations for natural ways to deal with depression and chronic pain? I take pain killers by the bucketload, and I don't intend to stop that when I need them, but I am starting to notice that my mental health is suffering too now. My boyfriend and I are falling out over lack of baby/me being a meany because of my crazy hormones and I'm exhausted, tearful and seriously grizzly!

I am looking into massage therapy, but wondered if anyone had any suggestions, or just any advice in general? My whole family (including my 20 year old brother) are on anti-depressants and that is not something I want for me. The doctors have tried to force them on me before when I was down and I refused. I don't think medication for depression is the answer to my problems.

Thanks for reading!

I've suffered from depression, OCD, fibro myalgia, arthritis and M.E (sorry for the long list) And I've had acupuncture for them which does seem to help. It relaxes me quite a lot and has managed to help me sleep, which for me is a bonus. I've only just been diagnosed with endo (as in yesterday!) so have not spoken to my acupuncturist about it yet, but for everything else it helps and they can help with fertility so it might be worth inquiring.

Thanks for your response. I have considered acupuncture but to be honest it does scare me a little. My fertility is zilch so I'm waiting to be referred for ivf. I will definitely take another look at acupuncture though x

I was a bit nervous for my first session and scared that it might make the chronic pain I already had worse, it does hurt a little but it does help too. I gave up medication in 2011 after suffering with more side effects than benefits so now I don't take any. It's really hard but I just couldn't cope with the side effects. That's why I went to acupuncture. Hope you find something that works for you too x

I've also been using acupuncture for chronic pain and chronic fatigue. its really helped with the pain, I didn't take anything for a month after starting it. It helped a

little for the fatigue. I've managed to walk my dog and managing to get to work.

It's also lifted my brain fog and relieved my hay fever.

The antidepressants may help wit d pain tho. chronic pain and depression kinda go hand in hand and depression will make pain worse. However I've managed to stay quite up beat wit acupuncture and my relationship wit my hubby has improved he says it's been nice to have me back

hope this helps
