That's right, Both ex Army who had soldiers heads on. Who listened to what you had to say. One was on insulin but cut the crakes & rubbish, high carbs. One used to walk for miles to go shopping & had no car. It is possible Give it a go.

I have Two of my T2 mates off Meds
When I was first diagnosed with diabetes I was told I would be taking insulin and Metformin for the rest of my life.
I have stopped taking Metformin and the later prescribed Metabet as both gave me a very bad stomach (I’m being tactful here) and I have reduced my daily insulin units to a third of what I was originally prescribed in April of this year. I have managed this mainly by diet but I have started to increase my exercise so that I will be off all medications by Christmas.
Reading your post about your two friends had really inspired me to achieve my Christmas goal.
It's good to hear of success stories!
One was a brick-layer before he joined the Army, I would not upset him. He walks miles to do his shopping.
The other was a real nice guy. Mad as a mad man, when he was 70 odd he got a brand new 125cc motorbike to take his test. He was T2 & had had a Heart transplant. With determination he got off the insulin. He was strong willed.
One STOPPED all his drinking & the other cut the carbs in a big way. Good luck if you are trying. I know its not the easiest thing.
