Hi everyone. I’m really confused about wether I have Hypoglycemia or not? I started feeling shaky a lot about 6 months ago. I had my sugar level checked after not eating for 12 hours and it was 4.7, doc said normal range. I’ve had random blood sugar checks and they’ve always been normal and the latest one was when I went to a walk in centre for some issues I was having she checked my blood sugar then and I’d not eaten in 4 hours and it was 5.5. She said still normal. I’m confused because I feel shaky a lot but I don’t get any other symptoms at all. Apart from feeling anxious when I’m shaky because I suffer from anxiety and everything sets me off. I have been tested for diabetes and I don’t have that either so I’m not sure what’s going on!!
Hypos?: Hi everyone. I’m really... - Diabetes Research...
Hypos?
Hello Laurenjf. Over the years I have had lots of hypos. Are you T1 ? When you are going down with bg. You do feel strange. I was talking to group of Paramedics at uni a few weeks ago & it is hard to describe a Hypo. "Your head is in the Sky". You may think you are doing ok but I do some stupid things. Its as though you are drunk. Not a good feeling. You will know. Good luck
I had test for diabetes and came back not diabetic. I’m confused if the shakiness is due to low blood sugar or not
Hi Laurenjf ,
Sometimes, a person can get shakiness from no food or not eating right on time like they should do-- even if they aren't a diabetic. What did your doctor say along with being told you weren't diabetic?
Well Ive had my blood sugar tested a few times and it’s never been low so they just dismissed it. But with me having Anxiety too I just feel like it’s being missed. It’s a endless circle of worry for me
That makes perfect sense. You may want to call your doctor and ask them a few more questions and explain to them that you've been worried about this issue and to have them test you for possible reactive hypoglycemia ( Reactive hypoglycemia is low blood sugar that occurs 3 to 4 hours after eating a meal. Symptoms include hunger, weakness, shakiness, lightheadedness, anxiety and confusion. Reactive hypoglycemia requires a medical evaluation for a diagnosis. To treat your reactive hypoglycemia, you need to eat small frequent meals -- going no more than three hours without a meal -- that include foods high in fiber.) to be on the safe side. I hope this helps!
Can you imagine running a Marathon. When someone is finished they eat things like Bananas to regain strength. Anyone can be run down.
Yes true. I’m just scared of passing out or something. Anxiety kicks in real bad!
there are a number of things that could be going on - have you had a full blood panel checking thyroid and also vitamins and minerals? - B12, D,folate, iron?
