Control
Don't worry it is possible to control diabetes with a sound diet once the diabetes mechanism is clear.
We simply eat too much foods that increase blood glucose (carbohydrates). Then we struggle to get it down often with medications.
Nurses and doctors will tell you to eat these bad foods, which lead to spikes in blood sugars. The truth of the matter is that it is impossible to control diabetes with the diet that doctors recommend (50-60% of food should be carbohydrates). And who do they blame?? the patient of course.
Thank you.
Diabetes is reversable if proper diet is followed or with intermittent fasting.
Dr. Jason Fung on reversing diabetes. This is just one of the methods.
My friend is T2 on insulin and has recently been given a new tablet which has meant she can reduce her insulin intake and its making her feel so much better. She is also (as I do as a T2 - metformin and diet only) reducing her carbs. Some people go high fat too, but I have tummy issues which mean high fat all the time isn't for me (I do have the odd treat but pay for it with a dodgy tummy later ).
It would be worth speaking to your diabetic team and ask them if there is anything they can give you to help with reducing your insulin but in the mean time try and cut back on your general carb intake - don't cut it out completely as we all need some carbs, but try and watch how much you have in your diet.
Have a look on Diabetes.org.uk and Xperthealth.org.uk for lots of useful educational information too.
I've used a low carb diet (and exercise) since diagnosis and have avoided any medications thus far (10+ years)
I recently did the 800 cal 8 week diet (The bolood sugar diet) too as espoused by Michael Mosley
