I see many advertising from Aashrivad, saying sugar control helps diabetes people. Is anyone here really seeing good results
Thanks

Have you talked to your doctor about trying the Aashrivad? If not, please consult the doctor, first so that you both will be on the same page and safe side so you don’t get sick or worse. No one wants anyone getting sick. 😀👍🌈
It is just wheat flour, probably with some additives. It must be as good as any wheat flour for diabetics. The manufacturer is reputed, so ,you can use it without any extra hopes.
Wheat is in general better than rice. That is what doctor advised me to take at night. I take diabetic rice for lunch.
i never heard about diabetic rice. what is that ?
karan79 ,

Are you wondering, what amylose is? It is a simple concept actually. Basically, there are two types of starch in rice: amylose and amylopectin.
dinkarblr ,
Coming to wheat, the commercial wheat available are mostly Sharbati atta. But there are other varieties available.
1) Sharbati wheat (Triticum aestivum) considered the best for making chapatis.
2) Durum Wheat (Triticum durum) known for its plumpness, appearance, consistency, and hardness used for marking pasta and others. This variety is diabetic friendly. I have personally tried it. My blood sugar does not spike much.
3) Paigambari(Triticum spherococcum) - Popularly known as Sugar Free which is a round shaped dwarf wheat (hexaploid). This variety can be
rightly called the first Indian Wheat as its origins can be traced to the Indus Valley Civilization and was one of the staple food in the Indian subcontinent almost 4000 years ago
4) Emmer wheat: It is an ancient wheat has a unique composition in secondary components, such as starch, which may play a role as functional food ingredients. Because it is rich in fiber, protein, minerals, carotenoids, antioxidant compounds, and vitamins, emmer is a complete protein source when combined with legumes, making emmer bread and pasta ideal for vegetarians or for anyone simply wanting a plant – based high – quality protein source.
5) Outside India, particularly in Mediterranean, you get "Farro" varieties. Farro does not refer to one type of grain. Rather, it's Italian for "ancient wheat grain" and often used to describe three different grains:
Einkorn: Farro piccolo, known scientifically as Triticum monococcum
Emmer: Farro medio, known scientifically as Triticum dicoccum
[mentioned in point 4]
Spelt: Farro grande, known scientifically as Triticum spelta.
These Farro varieties are drought resistant crops and these have low glycemic index.
In my point of view, please try to avoid big commercial brands and try to get organic varieties of wheat mentioned above for your daily use.
It's higer in protein and fiber. It releases starch slowly. Keeping you full longer. A great replacement for normal Atta. As a diabetic I only use this
