Can we Substitute Metformin with Berberine?
Hi Ashit_Sheth ,
Have you talked to your doctor about changing medications? If you haven't talked with your doctor already, please call the doctor's office and ask the doctor if they recommend that you change one medication for the other. This is to be on the safe side of things and you won't get sick or worse.
Consult your doctor first!!!

Hi Ashit Sheth:
I take Metformin 500 mg once a day. (used to be more # of times a year ago).
My Doc put me on insulin shots (Basaglar - 12 units once) and cut down on Metformin.
My experience with metformin has not been bad, except that it used to cause some acidity and I was prescribed Antacids for that.
You may check with your doctor for any changes in medications.
Even if it gets changed, pls try any medicine on experimental basis, check for side effects / and the real effect on your BS level, provide feed back to the doctor to decide whether to request for any alternatives.
Good Luck,
Prayers for Corona to leave this world and go to some other planet. Enough is enough.
