Food be your medicine, only food can cure your diabetes

I always wanted to be fit and fine. My dream is always to be slim, maintain my weight around 66-70 range. But, the corporate rat race never allowed that or we always take as excuse not to do so. The people in corporate sector are always on run, have no time to exercise coupled with sedentary lifestyle. We always consider late night working as virtue, always connected to mails via phone/laptop a sign of success, this is always worsened with rich Carbohydrate and fat food we eat. With the advent of major taxation reform in India in 2017 , my life took new turns with load of work, amounts to almost 18-20 hours a day, lot of stress and no respite on weekends.

Soon , it started showing results. My childhood Ashtma got reoccurred and also, strange problem of acute pain in right Shoulder. I can understand Asthma be there as it was genetic , but the generic thought about shoulder pain is always due to work pressure and stress. Never in my dreams, I thought its going to worst experience of my life.

When its occurrence started frequently, I went to check for Ortho Doctor, and He asked me to check for sugar level. It was shock to me, not because my body do not have probability of having it, but the thought of having no sweets , rice and potato scares me . (un-) Fortunately, that turned be negative and I was very happy. He suggested some exercises and the pain frequency came down. In parallel, I continued with treatment for Asthma, which was Ayurvedic treatment and they prescribed Chawynaprash alongwith other medicines

After six months, my wife insisted to get checked for Sugar test for herself. On reaching diagnostics center, she forced me also to get tested and that was a revelation. It turned to 210 fasting and 240 post food. My Hb1AC turned to be 9.8.So, welcome to world of diabetes. Not sure , how to react and news broke on day when there was a party planned on my better half birthday.

Anyway , I need to act now and act fast. I was firm on certain points

1. No Allopathic medicines as I do not have much trust

2. I need to control food so that it can be corrected within sometime

3. need to rely on Ayurveda medicines

4. Need to change my lifestyle to cure it at it roots.

So, I looked at multiple vidoes on internet and following were really helpful:-

1. youtube.com/watch?v=pNDSAQF...

These are really helpful . Based on these , incorporated following in my lifestyle

I. No GPS in diet : G- Grains, P-Potato and S- Sugar

I know it is hard to leave G for Indian diet. So , we really need to focus on 2 things

. Leave Rice completely and also , No Wheat. It will be bit surprising as most Doctors suggest to eat Chapati. You can eat Chapati, but not made of Wheat. The major rule is to avoid any simple carbs and move to complex carbs.

I moved completely to rotis made by Jowar and Ragi. On a lighter side, you need to convince your wife to make it as its difficult to cook. But, its impact on carbs intake is exemplary. Also Jowar is high is protein and Ragi is rich source of Calcium.

II . Started having methi seeds in morning. Soak them overnight , let them be soaked whole night, Early morning, drink 1 glass of water, followed by drinking the methi water and then eat these seeds. Post that, I do not take anything for next 90 minutes

III. Have my breakfast as Jowar or Ragi roties with Green vegetables. No Potato, but beans, Cabbage, Bottle Gourd and Bitter Gourd is really helpful.I always prefer to have a good and heavy breakfast as this is meal of day, which I can have peacefully.

IV. Have a very light lunch, post 4 hours of breakfast. It consists of salads (Kheera, tomato, with glass of lemon juice). Post having this salad, I always eat some variety in lunch. Have Jowar Daliya, Poha, soaked Bengal Grams. I never eat chappati/rice in lunch, this helps me to stay active, not feeling sleepy

V. Have a fruit like apple, guava, Anar around 4-5 PM. Having Jamun during Summers is great as it is always superfood to maintain sugar levels.

VI. if sometimes, I feel hungry, I eat Bhuna Chana. Just one handful is good to satiate hunger.

VII. The dinner is always same as breakfast. Have 2 roties with green vegetables.

Obviously, this is supplemented with exercise regime followed:-

1. Have 300 minutes of exercise in week. People says its 150 minutes, but considering the Indian metabolic rate and genetically weak fitness, its better to always do exercise of 40-50 minutes daily and increase to 60-80 minutes during weekends. Have a combination of Pranayama , Yoga and Running/ Brisk walking.

2. Always do 20-25 minutes of KapalBhati at least 4-5 days a week , and Mandukaasana for 3-4 minutes. Its very helpful.

3. Walk daily for 4-5 kms in morning. Better to do running if body allows, even brisk walking is good.

4. I always do 10-15 mins of walk after dinner 3-4 days a week. That is very important and it helps to reduce sugar levels to great extent

Alongwith above, I always take Ayurveda medicines. No Allopathic medicines

Results:-

The results which followed are amazing for me within 6 months

1. The HB1AC is reduced to 6.2

2. The fasting level is 100 and post food is 140.

3. You can imagine how a person with Astma can jog or walk fast. It was really difficult for me in beginning. Now, I run of 3 kms a day , combined with 2 kms of brisk walking and that too within 35 mings.

4. My asthma has disappeared. My doctor was surprised to see results and that too, I left all medicines for Asthma.

5. My weight has reduced 8 kgs and now it is at below 70. It is almost transformation, and my office colleagues always ask me the secret of it.

6. My doses of medicine is reduced. I am really feeling better.

Its true saying that let Food be your medicines. The diabetes is disorder and that can be/should be cured with diet. Not with medicines . Having your food as medicine is really true for us.
