HbA1c 9.5

My friend did a random blood test and got a HbA1C of 9.5. But he does not have any of the diabetes symptoms. No Frequent urination, No Thirst, Not overweight, No Tiredness and is quite active. Only problem is frequent partying and high calorie diet. Under these conditions is He a confirmed Diabetic ? If he changes the lifestyle can the HbA1c be brought back to less than 6.5 ?

HbA1C is normally done at the lab and the value reflects the average blood sugar in the previous three months. The Glucometer used at home monitor blood sugar at that particular time.

Diabetes is like a 'chupa rustam'.Symptoms are not always obvious.It may remain latent for any length of time and by the time one starts noticing the symptoms,it would have gone far ahead and managing it at that stage will be a challenge.It is advisable for your friend to consult a good diabetes doctor to confirm his condition and start taking whatever steps necessary.HbA1c is too high and it shows that he is a diabetic.
