HbA1c is not to read BS. It is only to read the aftereffect of elevated BS levels over the previous 3-4 months. Correlating HbA1c to BS is nothing better than a "crude approximation". There are more than one calculation to relate HbA1c to BS (eaG). Each one give a different value of eaG for same HbA1c. This is because the formulae are empirical, dependent on the BS data/status of the sample population of diabetics of the exercise/study.
Fasting blood glucose of 87 is borderline. And the fact that you had diabetes in pregnancy could mean that you are beginning to decompensate. This is a warning sign, check your diet.
