Hi i am diabetic vth 500 mg metaformin twice daily since ladt 6 months. 3 months back i started on part lchf i.e i cut down carbs nd incresed healthy fats. Good energy and fbs in the range of 87 to 100. Since 1 week i have cut my morning dose. First month of this diet i had severe urination as if my bladder would burst. I presumed that body could be releasing clogged fats etc. Now its back to normal.
Howevere later i.e since last w months i am getting severe skin itch on legs, upper back, inner thighs that ends up into red nd later black pigmented patches. I tried aloevera gel. It was better.. Now since a week the itch has started on abdomen, lower chest back etc. Is it bcoz of diabetes...
Still didnt see skin specialist as i need to endure list of meds nd creams vthout any gynan on the cause....kindly help me.

Thanks sir. definitely i vl stick vth dIet...i am monitoring only fbs vch is under control. I presume my sugar levels post meals could be on higher side i.e above 140 to 170 range that might be causing bcoz as a diabetic i am still relaxed vth my foods i.e carbs on-off...vl start monitoring ppbs nd start regulating my meals...and at this range one doesnt feel too weak or low..
I am diabetic since last 15 years and itching has started since last 8 months have consulted various skin specialist but so far no improvement now last specialist have suggested Psorid /Polaramine & Atrix but so far not much improved . Dr. told me because of age you have lost water retention in the body.
It depends whether the itching is localised or generalised. If it is localised and ring like papularformation ,it is then ring worm and treatment is simple. If itching is generalised and no obvious lesion the one could think about scabies.
@hazari - Whenever the skin itches, you can add half to one tsp of turmeric in plain water. Stir thoroughly until blended and then drink it down. It helps. I believe when the BG is high, the skin will itch.
Skin becomes dry with medicines and particularly diabetic patients need to take care of that. If not same identical issues I have also faced. Dermatologist given me medicines and along with advised to control the sugar level. So it is slightly related, and you need to see both Doctors. All the best.
Check your sgot/sgpt,and V-12
