Ten Reasons Why I Don't Rely On ADA's Guidelines On Diabetes Management Anymore.

Ten quick reasons:

(1) I have my experience of 2 years being a disciplined patient as per ADA's definition but it failed me. I am not alone on this. Most diabetes forums in world exist because of this failure as experienced by others across the globe. Read my own experience here:

healthunlocked.com/diabetes...?

(2) I have looked at all other forums on LCHF diet before taking a call.

(3) I have my own comparative numbers (like all diabetics across the world on LCHF diet) pre and post LCHF diet to do the talking. My doctors also keeps quite on all dietary recommendations as they only lead me to higher drugs.

(4) ADA gets huge donations from drugs companies so I doubt if they would ever include anything that will harm drug industries or the medicare business in general. All big donors to ADA are diabetic drugs or supplies companies. Few are from the food company also. It's a sheer case of "conflict of interest".

(5) The dietary guidelines initiated by McGovern committee has increased obesity in America by 200%

(6) The dietary guidelines have increased diabetes by 400% over the same period.

(7) Cancer, CVD, CHD, Obesity, Diabetes, CKD, ESRD, Hypertension -- Talk of anything and it has only increased after the so called healthy and balanced dietary guideline aka High Carb Low Fat. The only thing that has greatly improved favorably is the sales of drugs and profits of the food and agri business -- agri business where wheat, corn and soya are three items (US perspective which is being forced onto entire world) subsidized by taxpayer's money.

(8) ADA didn't even shy from taking donations from Candy company --

(9) I have better source of information which has really helped me and kept my health on priority rather than keeping drug companies interests on priority. Jenny Ruhl is a role model for me. If she can be in great control for over 15 years by not adhering to what ADA (or it's equivalent) preach then sure even I can. A Type 2 on any diabetes forum is first advised o visit he site -- phlaunt.com/diabetes/index.php

(10) I rely on my medical reports more than wisdom of dietitians who preach the same old broken dietary guidelines -- High Carb Low Fat -- which only makes things go from bad to worse no just for diabetes control but almost all diabetic complications.

In short, when it comes to diabetes education, I don't trust any material or site that comes from or preaches ADA's thought on the subject. Like Dr Bernstein and others who are not in agreement with what ADA says, I also firmly believe that as a diabetic I have a right to non diabetic numbers. Diet is the KEY and not DRUGS. Eat less work more doesn't work.

OPINIONS of ADA, or experts who do columns on other sites which favor ADA's opinions are of no importance to me. I am willing to challenge any diabetologist with my medical reports, only if they get away from saying -- "We are just following guidelines". Those guidelines are BROKEN.

Go to any diabetes forum across the world and you will find diabetics on LCHF diet with similar opinion (backed by facts of their medical reports).

Meetu77 - You have inspired many, including me, to follow LCHF and I have improved my BS/PPBS levels which is close to normal levels now. I am not yet there fully but hope to be so in 1-2 months.

By the way, is it okay to consume just the gravy of potato subzi, as you have mentioned in your earlier post? I do stay away from potato completely.

@venkas1 - I am glad that your sugar levels are close to normal and LCHF is helping you in that respect. Just make sure you are counting carbs, proteins and fat and get to LCHF range. Here is a post that should help you:

Yes I don't see any problem with the gravy. But, as we all do, if in doubt, check sugar readings, adjust portion size. Add good fat to the gravy. Here's a list of sources of good fat:

Great going. Let's spread LCHF as a way of life to other diabetics and surprise few more family physicians :)

This shows how broken the entire nutrition philosophy is because it favors the drug industry and not the patient.

Out here LCHF preachers are abused and insulted, but still we talk. Some even team up to start attacking with some useless 5 day studies and they don't believe a report of diabetics on LCHF for years, but prefer to latch on to a 5 day dubious studies against fat. Probably because it exposes the ADA and its real intentions.
