Fasting Glucose is more than PP

I have got tested blood sugar 2 days back on 19-02-2015. Results are as below:

Glucose (F)-GOD-POD 143 mg/dl and Glucose (PP)-GOD-POD 108 mg/dl.

I have not taken sweets or other such things which could increase blood sugar on 18th night.

What is the reason behind it? I generally take one metfromin hydrochloride tablet on every alternate day after breakfast. I do some yoga, freehand exercise in the morning and 30 minutes walk in the evening.

I maintain diabetic diet as far as possible.

@menonpkv ,

Glad you found it useful.

A real life example.

A patient was prescribed Metformin 500 mg + 5mg Sulfonyl Urea After Dinner, apart from medicines After Breakfast and After Lunch for diabetes. The patient faced high sugar readings before Breakfast & normal or low readings during the day along with hypoglycemia at times. The sulfonyl urea was increased to 10 & then to 15, to take care of the morning highs. Result - Still no control. On becoming aware of the problem, I suggested gradual reduction of the sulfonyl urea at night & check for effect on Morning sugar. Today that patient is taking 0.75 mg Sulfonyl urea, once in a day after Dinner & with reasonably good morning sugar readings.

Thanks.

Following may be reasons for PPBG<FBG:

1) Do not know the reason for taking metformin on alternate days.

2) you may not be diabetic

3) you might have taken very very small quantity of diet for break-fast under consideration

4) You may have taken more proteins / Oil for break-fast.

What is content of your break fast. How much carbohydrate in your break fast? If your break consists of oily foods, then chylomirons formed which interefer with glucose estmation. If you have too much protein then also it varies. In general it advised to take high carbohydrate contaning dishes like idly or upma pongal etc not fried stiffs like dosa etc.

Check your levels after taking break fast contaning carbohydrates.

There is a chance that your liver produces more glucose than rqd( due to fatty liver). Livogen/ Live 52/ Livon ( all ayurvedic medicines) may help.
