Interesting observation of Fasting Blood Sugar(FBS)

Couple of days ago, i took FBS reading in my glucometer before and after going to toilet in the morning. Surprisingly, both of these readings were exactly the same. It was 102 mg/dL.

Couple of years ago, when i was initially diagnosed T2D, i took similar readings. Before going to toilet, FBS was 159 mg/dL and after, it was 144 mg/dL.

I have read some news articles and research papers that tablets like Metmorfin eliminate extra sugar from the body via your poop. Does this not happen when you do not have any tablets like Met?

Glycosuria is the excretion of glucose into the urine. Ordinarily, urine contains no glucose because the kidneys are able to reabsorb all of the filtered glucose from the tubular fluid back into the bloodstream. Glycosuria is nearly always caused by elevated blood glucose levels, most commonly due to untreated diabetes mellitus.

When the blood glucose level exceeds about 160–180 mg/dL (8.9-10 mmol/L), the proximal tubule becomes overwhelmed and begins to excrete glucose in the urine.

Thanks a lot for the explanation gangadharan_nair sir. Mine was uncontrolled/untreated diabetes two years ago as i was just diagnosed T2D.

Not surprising since sugar levels vary continuously and the readings being the same is just a coincidence.

Ok ramana42 sir. Let me retest and come back.

It is only a time gap and not that you are excreting sugar. If this was so,only laxatives would have been sufficient.

isbuttar , Interestingly, i have observed T2D folks having Isabgol, a laxative regularly. As mentioned by gangadharan_nair , I feel glycosuria might be a cause of this issue.

What have your blood sugars been for today so far, barani19 ? Do you feel okay?

Hi Leah,

How are you doing today? My blood sugar is pretty much in control these barring my experimentation with Paneer(cottage cheese). I expect my HbA1c to reduce from my current level of 6.2% this quarter. Keeping my fingers crossed.

How is weather over there? Enjoying summer?

Cheers.

I'm doing okay, but the temps. and weather are very warm and somewhat rainy/wind/sunny for this weekend.

Let us know if the A1c does go down. I'm getting my A1c done September 1st for an early morning appointment. I hope with my CGM and the low carb high protein diet, things had gone down slightly. Been having a lot of salads for dinner more these days since it's so warm now.

It's almost time for me to get lunch ready, so I will be back later when I get done. Enjoy your evening! :-)

Done with lunch.:-)

Not blood sugar alone even weight difference can be observed by about 200 to 300 grams before and after toilet . It is an observed fact

Please explain your comments.?

Are you checking your weight before and after toilet?

What are the observed fact?

in reply tosandybrown

By accident I did that once . Then out of curiosity I did many times and each time I found a decrease of weight by 200 to 3oo grams . Then I tried the same thing after having excess food than usual and there is an increase of some grams .This variance in weight after taking food is especially found in case of liquids .
