Thanks to medfree for advising LCHF diet.I am only 15 days old member of this group. My PPBS was 185 and fasting was 130.I was taking glycomet gp-1 before lunch and metformin 1 gm after dinner. After adopting LCHF Diet it really works amazingly.i am 43 years old and suffering from diabetes since 4 years. Now i.e. within a week time my fasting comes down to 94 -100 and PPBS is 145. Not only this my BS before dinner is 84 and after dinner is 110. usually I take dinner at 8:30 pm and this too by taking only 500 mg of metformin instead of 1000 mg.I take( in dinner ) only 2 chappati , 1 bowl curd, 1 bowl DAL either whole moong or arhar, 1 bowl salad, 1 bowl green vegetable with few pieces of paneer. My daily intake of chapati in lunch and dinner is 4.In the afternoon snack i take small amt of groundnut and 4-5 almonds.
I am planning of eliminating glycomet gp-1 also in few days.I think only 500mg metformin twice a day is sufficient.
once again thanks to all LCHF adopting group for your valuable advice.

I followed the advice from Anup and now medfree about LCHF. My fasting and PP are in the range of 93-95 and 110- 123 respectively for past one month . My thanks to you. Though excited , I am strictly following the LCHF diet. My humble suggestion to all my friends here who are apprehensive is to give LCHF a chance and see the results for yourself.
Good Luck to all of you with LCHF. I am following LCHF but the results are not impressive.
I have a problem of sugar level going up during my non-eating hours, then I lower it by eating and taking metformin plus one of the supportive supplements, like Gymnima, Chromium piccolonate,...etc. If I take my sugar level fasting in the morning, it is normaly between 120-130. Most of the time I prefer no breakfast and if I delay lunch and extend my fasting time, my blood sugar late afternoon would be about 170? Any explanation? After taking my first meal in the day late afternoon, I take metformin -850mg- plus other supportive supplements and sugar level may go down to around 120, i.e. a little below or over the 120 mark only 4 hours after the meal. I am surprised when people tell me sugar level gets back to normal 2 hours after the meal. No in my case my norm is 4 hours after taking tablets which I take usually right after meal.
Dear Medfree,Since last 4 days I have eliminated glycomet gp-1also and added only metformin 500 mg before lunch. restrict my chapati to only one(1/2 wheat and 1/2 chana dal mix) instead of 2(full wheat chapat) earlier and added one cube of cheese .You will not believe my PPBS by meter is 134 without glimperide.-1mg. Same in dinner also .
But my only cause of worry is saturated fat that I am taking in the form of cheese and butter.(cheese-1 cube daily and about 50 gms of butter daily).
Lets see what my lipids report say which i am planning to get it done after 45 days.
I am now 74 and a diabetic for 32 years. A diabetic complication I have developed since 3-4 years is neuropathy in my feet, which makes mobility no longer an easy activity. The fear of losing balance while walking is a serious concern. I still handle things independently.
I want to know if LCHF could help. I detail my food habit here below and would welcome suggestion on how to make it conform to LCHF specs.
Morning : I drink on an empty stomach, 1/2 litre plain, filtered, room temp. water, followed a few minutes later by a cup of sugarless tea. This is followed an hour later, by a breakfast of 3 idlis, or one cup of upma, or two plain dosas made with least oil. I take 1.1/2 tablets of Diabend 80 mg before breakfast. After breakfast, I take one each of :
TABLET THELMA H 40 MG
TABLET. METPURE XL 25MG
TABLET FULL 24
32 Units of Mixtard 50/50 insulin.
I drink a sugarless cup of coffee, an hour after breakfast.
My lunch comprises of 1.1/2 to 2 chapathis, with some vegetable curry, dal, and a cup of curds. I eat two small banans, (Elachi variety) after lunch.
After lunch, I take one CAPSULE of TEROGENA, an ayurvedic herbal medicine.
I rest after lunch for about an hour.
Evening I have a cup of sugarless coffee and go for a walk for about half an hour, or alternate evening I practice yoga for about 2 hours at home. Yoga considerably tones down the instability of neuropathy on my feet, and takes care of my ankle joints pains. It give me a feeling of the body-mind-intellect functioning in harmony, and unlike walking, does not tire me at all.
Before dinner, I take one capsule of NEXPRO RD, and 1.1/2 tablets of Diabend 80 mg. Night dinner is mostly some fruits – mainly papaya, water melon, apple and oranges. After dinner, I take the following medication:
28 Units of Mixtard 50/50 insulin, 1 capsule of TEROGENA, Calciguard Retard 10 mg.
During the day, I munch walnuts, badam, and ground nuts, when I feel like it.
Of late I am experiencing increasing feeling of drowsiness, especially after breakfast and lunch, and find it strenuous to walk any worthwhile distance. I sometimes feel so I have to stand for a few minutes for rest.
My fasting blood sugar varies between 80 and 150, while my PPBS varies between 189 and 250. My HBA1C came down from 112.5 to 9.5 recently.
I am aware that I am on heavy medication for years. If LCHF diet can help tone down my dependence on medication, I would like to seriously try. We are South Indian vegetarians, and do not mind eating eggs.
I would appreciate your suggewtions, directly on my e mail, narasimhan2003@gmail.com.
