I never heard of "methylene blue" until 15 minutes ago while watching this Dr. Berg video.

He says you can buy it over the counter!

Here's a thread about methylene blue and PD:

and I found methylene blue on Amazon, about $30.

This study:

Methylene Blue Protects The Dopaminergic Neurons through Upregulation of BDNF

used pretreatment which is not a valid model of PD. Details here:

It is much much cheaper to get the pharmacy grade powder. About 5 grams for about $50 on Amazon. You can mix it 1 gram to 100 ml distilled water for a 10% solution. Lots of info on this old thread: healthunlocked.com/cure-par...

If you have stone countertops, cover them because methylene blue will stain them and anything else it touches.

Lemon juice reduces the MB and it becomes clear. Don't do this on marble.

chartist profile image
chartist in reply toSilentEchoes

It does, but I think the combination may be creating a different chemical that may not have the same exact effects as MB?

No, read my other comment on this post.

Okay I read your other comment. My question is does this change the effectiveness of methylene blue in terms of known health effects that people take it for? Can you link to something that discusses this? I would be interested in reading it, because I have heard of people using ascorbic acid for this purpose, but never read anything about any alterations in effectiveness.

"does this change the effectiveness of methylene blue in terms of known health effects that people take it for?"

The short answer is no.

I researched MB for methemoglobinemia, my red cell count is high. rMB had a remarkable effect and my hemoglobin and hematocrit are in the normal range. My blood doesn't look brown anymore and my lips aren't blue. I was looking for an antidote to cyanide poisoning, rMB with high dose B12 (hydroxycobalamin) was in my reach.

People with G6PD should not take MB, and substitute high dose IV Vit. C and B1 instead.

I saved a video and want to do a writeup on it, but I just got out of the hospital and need to recouperate.

I add 1/2 tsp of Alkalini C to a juice glass with water and MB, the acid converts MB to the reduced form - more bioavailable. Not very noticeable in urine.

Alkalini C, now that is top shelf!

great stuff you posted, bolt, thanks! i quickly reviewed that old post which says you are taking MB ... are you still taking it?

Bolt_Upright profile image

I took it for awhile, then I stopped for a long time, then I started again a few months ago. It was kind of a pain in the arse when I first took it as I was measuring it into 4 ounces of water each time. Now I do like that lady in the video and just squirt some in my mouth. I found 10 squirts from an old CBD bottle twice a day makes my pee turn green some of the time. According to the Doctor Been videos you want to be on the low side and I am pretty sure that is where I am (but I could be wrong. I have a HS degree. I just figure that since my pee is not ALWAYS green I am not getting too much [which could be bad science]).

My experience with methylene blue was quite negative I hope y’all have better experience. Everyone is different so perhaps that was just me. I read all the very positive videos and articles and so I decided to try.

I took it when I was sick with covid. Ari Whitten did a video saying it could help so I ordered some to have on hand. I didn’t take it the first time I got covid but I decided to try it the second time. I took it first 5 days and rapidly got very symptomatic, my husband also. My husband had to go to hospital I chose to stay home. I had excessive phlegm in my throat and felt I was suffocating. I can’t swallow well so that hindered me from clearing it. Anyway I took it one morning and immediately got worse. It clicked that it was harming me. I didn’t take any more and slowly got better over the week. I feel if I had continued it I wouldn’t be here. My husband had to be intubated and did not survive. Like I said I’ve read articles about it where people say they have done very well and love the benefits, I personally did not have that experience

I'm sorry for your loss.

Good thing you stopped when you did. (A constricting throat is some times an indication of an allergic reaction.)

You need to test yourself for G6PD deficiency. MB is contraindicated if you have the mutations.

I am an unaffected carrier. No ill effects.

Looks like Metformin, aspirin, soy, several herbal supplements are contraindicated. Looks like list is fairly long. It causes glutathione to be depleted in blood cells and hemolysis occurs. Vitamin K can also potentially cause. Thanks again I’ll definitely be looking for a complete list of what to avoid

I wonder how many people with thyroid disease also have neurodegenerative disease. My hypothesis is there's a shared hypothalamic injury. My hypothyroidism is "central" meaning it isn't autoimmune. I have hyperinsulinemia, that I still don't understand and was prescribed metformin. Not going to use it. Managing it with Keto/Paleo diet principles. Again this is central diabetes (insipidus).

Gigi216 profile image
Gigi216 in reply toSilentEchoes

Yes it seems as long as thyroid is well treated this shouldn’t be an issue, I am so grateful you mentioned it!! This explains a lot of unusual symptoms I’ve had when trying supplements. Seriously thank you so much because I have severe anemia at the present I’m trying to improve now I know better what to avoid etc 🙏🏻
