Amitriptyline & dementia
Morning 🌼 I have just had a note put on my notes for Amitriptyline saying use should be at lowest does due to the risk of
dementia
. It said something about the anticholinergic burden scale. I'm really scared. Is anyone else aware of this? Thank you!

For worriers about anti-coagulants
In addition, direct-acting OAC (DOAC) use was associated with a lower incidence of
dementia
compared with no use of OACs or with use of warfarin; no significant difference in
dementia
incidence was observed between warfarin users and OAC nonusers " So this seems like quite a good reason to take them.

Off topic but quite scary, I think
I have also read that
dementia
can only be confirmed after death when they inspect the brain for confirmation. Some people might be taking unnecessary medications especially if if they're a bit absentminded. GPs to be paid ÂŁ55 for each
dementia
diagnosis. Who is providing the monies?

The results of the Phase 2 trial: Mevidalen improves motor symptoms
The drug increases affinity of the D1 receptor for dopamine, and is thought to improve
dementia
symptoms by amplifying the effect of endogenous dopamine. LY3154207 is being developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease

and

Vascular dementia related to hypothyroidism.
I also suffer with severe anxiety and major depression and wonder how much that's affecting my memory,I'm terrified of getting a diagnosis of vascular
dementia
as what little quality of life, I have now , would be gone completely and my life will be virtually over from that point on.

A movie recommendation
It stars Anthony Hopkins, who gives his customary excellent performance as an elderly man going through the confusion of losing cognition on his journey with
dementia
. It's not a fun watch, or an action movie by any means, and of course, as is the case with
dementia
, there is no happy ending.

Just a catch up
On the 9th of February I lost my dear husband to the dreadful
dementia
disease, he suffered for many years. The medical certificate declared he died of
dementia
, but underlying chronic kidney disease and AF. As you can imagine my own AF is playing up due to the stress.

Drugs for mild dementia
My Mum 98 has mild
dementia
but over the last few weeks she has had a few problems which seem to have made it worse at night, She wakes up not wanting it to be alone. She's fine most of the time and as I said its mild
dementia
, that doesnt mean she is not distressed though when it happens.
