Nutrients to help repair your blood-brain barrier

Nicely put together page of useful information on things that (may?) help the blood brain barrier:

Resveratrol

Curcumin

Sulforaphane: If you take sulforaphane in supplement form, make sure it contains the co-factor myrosinase.

Vitamin D

B vitamins. Several B vitamins support the health of the blood-brain barrier:

- Vitamin B1 (thiamine) deficiency disrupts the blood-brain barrier and supplementation can restore it.

- Vitamins B12, B5, and B9 (folate) can restore blood-brain barrier integrity.

Magnesium

Omega 3 fatty acids

Mannitol also is believed to disrupt the blood-brain barrier , according to a secondary source (PD Foundation quoting from studies).

Do you have any links? All I can find is mannitol disrupting the BBB using intracarotid infusion. Thanks.

Unfortunately, the link to the a.m. source is broken. The year was 2013 if I am not wrong.

I grow broccoli sprouts but I also supplement with BroccoGen10. which contains the precursor Sulforaphane Glucosinolate (SGS) and the post-converted, proprietary, stabilized Sulforaphane. This is why do you not need the Myrosinase enzyme present newconatural.zendesk.com/hc...

From where do you acquire the BroccoGen10? I take Jarrow BroccoMax I really need to grow my own broccoli sprouts. Would you mind sharing from where you learned how? Was it Dr. Rhonda Patrick? I stall out at buying the seeds bc I don't know which ones to purchase.

Ha! Finally found it. Wriga had written recently: "Broccoli is Brassica oleracea var. Italica."

I've purchased sprouting seed in bulk from True Leaf Market & Johnny's Select Seeds. Only one of my transplants survived the early heat wave and I'm thinking to just let it go to seed. :)

There are loads of good videos on YouTube for growing sprouts. Here is one

youtube.com/watch?v=3SHS0gW... the one mistake I made the first time is not draining the water well enough. The sprouts can get moldy if not drained well. The smell test is the best way to make sure your sprouts are good.

You need to buy wide mouth mason jars

These are the lids I found that work best amazon.ca/gp/product/B08D92...

Sprouting stands like this help drain the water properly amazon.ca/Stainless-Sprouti...

Look for a good local brand of organic broccoli seed

1. 2 tbsp seeds in jar. Soak for 2 hours

2. Drain start day 1 - keep in dark area or cover jar with a tea towel

3. 2 x per day Rince and drain - keep in dark until day 4

4. Day 5 leave in bright light (until the leaves are a nice green colour)

5. Rince well in bowl, and drain out the seeds

6. dry sprouts well and refrigerate and eat within 3-4 days

My family loves the sprouts too, so I start a new bottle every two days

This is where I got broccogen newconatural.ca/products/br...

I had wondered if it is present in sprouts. I have a lot of broccoli seed that was intended for sprouts and microgreens over the winter, but they could be turned into tea. Not sure what to do.

Naturally produced in the body, melatonin and its metabolites readily pass through and also repair the BBB. Yes, the body actually has its own mechanism to protect and repair the blood brain barrier and it is called melatonin!
