We tried a protocol of vit c plus several other nutritional supplements which was supposed to mimic carbidopa, but for my husband there wasn't any difference in how long the mucuna lasted.
We, ve been using mucuna for 2+yrs, but now we, re taking large amounts of it, and it, s only lasting 2hrs max.
We're thinking of combining it with prescription carbidopa, something like entacapone (we, re in the UK), but wanted a last attempt at diy PD treatments, as have worked well for quite a while.
Advice from anyone with experience of using mucuna would be appreciated.

I've been experimenting with using the natural powdered mucuna for my source of Ldopa, combined with the natural powdered matcha green tea for my source of Cdopa equivalent inhibitor for about ten months. After trying various amounts, I have found that a teaspoon of matcha, combined with a tablespoon of mucuna seems to work best for me.
I take green tea with Mucuna in the mornings. I find it aids absorption. At night Ive been experimenting with grapefruit juice, small dosage, one ounce 15-30 minutes prior to Mucuna dose. It seems to help.
Amy right now I’m using Barlowe’s 40% (white) and an organic product by Weyland which is probably between 5-10%. Both are processed in the US but I imagine the source material for both comes from India like most MP.
I like the Wayland a lot and use it together with the much stronger Barlowes extract with the belief that the full spectrum might help with absorption.
I’m primarily using Barlowe’s in bulk powder, 1/8 tsp = 165mg L-Dopa equivalent.
I’m also experimenting with grapefruit juice, small dose, 30ml (about 1 shot glass) prior to MP dosing. Results are indeterminate but it’s something to try.
Anyhow I hope this helps. Happy Holidays to you and your family -
Hi John, thanks for the info. I find interesting your feeling to want to experiment with grapefruit juice, since grapefruit, as I have read in other comments, seems to be a barrier to the intake of lovodopa and therefore not suggested. To be verified I guess...
