Picolax Prep

Have my prep tomorrow for a colonoscopy and have been given Picolax, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about this one with some people saying it didn’t clear them out fully.

I was wondering if anyone was given Picolax only (without senna etc - I can’t take senna) for their colonoscopy and if it worked ok for you and how many sachets you were given (I’ve only been given the 2 sachets)?

I’ve experienced the delightful joy of Picolax in the past. I had a few strictures and it worked for me every time. Psychologically, it tastes much better served in a cocktail glass with a wee paper umbrella on the side.

Another tip for any of the wonderous weird gunk the NHS urge us to drink prior to investigation or some of the nutritional supplements is to drink it through a straw. It reduces the amount of liquid washing over your tastebuds and is easier to get it down.

lol thank you, I shall try the pretending it’s a nice tipple trick and thank you for the straw tip too. I have terrible 24/7 reflux atm, so a bit worried how it’s going to affect that. Getting nervous now, not long to go before the toilet will be my new best friend! 😂

I only had Picolax, nothing else. It worked for me. So much better to take than Movicol which made me sick

Used Picolax numerous times over the last few decades,WORKS!!!! I never strayed too far from the toilet because this stuff really clears you out if you follow the instuctions. Good luck.

I have had Picolax as well in the past and it worked for me. Good luck, at least you’ll get your exercise. 😊
