Hi...sorry I'm hoping someone can help me....had my results back & although not overly high I've read that in the UK doctors use the York Care Pathway to interpret faecal calprotectin test results for IBD...
100-250 ug/g- intermediate result & the test should be repeated in two weeks.
I feel silly as the doctor I spoke to that did the test is an associate physician & maybe not able to order more tests? any ideas? he told me wait until January to retest, my test was 8th Nov so even if I am meant to wait 6 weeks it's before that. I've had blood in my stools back in September & only now they've done this test, just want some answers, I've been having tests since May...blood tests etc & feel no where forward....

Thank you....yes I realise it's just a marker, it's just I've had a lot of bad experiences with doctors & my surgery & just wanted to check the guidelines for when to re test as I also had bloods that came back abnormal in the last lot of tests & the advice was repeat abnormal...but he didn't think they were an issue so not sure where abnormal & repeat is for them....I had low mcv & a higher rbc so wanted to get those checked out....
I would be concerned about being treated by an 'associate physician' or Physician Associate. He is not a doctor and has had no medical degree, just 2 years training. Could you see an actual GP to discuss your results in more detail? Blood is a red flag symptom so if it happens again, it should really be investigated. Hope you get some answers soon!
Hi...yes I was thinking that. But when I spoke to him he ended up cancelling my appointment I had made with the lady doctor I had seen previously, as I had made this on the nhs app... it was very difficult as I was having a telephone consultation with him at the time & he could see I had booked an appointment with her in a couple of weeks & not him. So I still have an appointment on Wednesday with him, so will see what happens at that one. He may have more time to go through things more than the usual 10 min allocation...will see, at least I can ask him for more tests, as he was the one who got me to do the faecal calprotectin test & not my other lady doctor, she had only done a fit test. If he won't do another one in the 6 weeks it's meant to be restested then I might just do a private one as they are quite reasonable. Thanks for your input, much appreciated any help.
