Hi All

I started having blood in my stools mid last year and was offered an urgent colonoscopy (after a positive FIT test). the Colonoscopy showed mild inflammation, but UC vs. Crohn's was not conclusive... Did an MRI which showed mild inflammation of the terminal ileum.

Calp showed a reading of 240 in July this year and was given Budesonide... however i have just completed the course 3 weeks back, and the calp now has a reading of >2000... not only did the BUdesonide not help, but in fact has worsened my symptoms (still blood in stools and now stools are mostly semi-sold, almost liquid).

Have a call with the nurse next week but worried that this could be cancer?

Hi Jenny, when they did the colonoscopy last year, they took 8 biopsies which suggested IBD... given the location of the inflammation, they think its Crohn's and not UC

I'm not a doctor but is it possible you have an infection? It sounds like your colonoscopy showed mild inflammation and nothing else of concern. Someone we know also had a cal proc of >2000 but after they did the colonoscopy with all the bowel prep calproc dropped significantly maybe because something was flushed out. Again not a doctor but don't know if Budesonide would help if you have an infection. I don't know the answer and I am just relaying the story of our acquaintance because it just happened. Either way I hope you are better soon.
