Anyone had any symptoms similar to these with a calprotectin level of 332.
Started 3 months ago during a stressful time had a serious case of constipation which lead to slight bleeding and soreness, also my stomach had started to make extreme loud rumbling noises all day everyday and through the night regardless of what i ate or drunk which was gluten and dairy and coffee and teas most days.(Till elimination).
After a month the soreness did not go, i also had a bleed upon sitting down and assumed a burst pile i went to gp was diagnosed with anal fissure. Noises still continuing at this point and i decided to start eliminating certain foods till i saw a result when i left gluten and dairy alone my stomach calmed and noise went so did blood on stools but soreness did remain, i retested dairy and gluten in small samples and each time it created the loud rumbles within 2 hours in my stomach and upon passing bowel movement blood coated stools.(Quite alot).
I am awaiting blood tests for celiac disease and other checks, i had normal stool culture test and have been referred to GI which im very scared about.
Has anyone had anything like this who can make any sense for me please.

perhaps you are lactose intolerant? Did you try just taking milk instead of milk and gluten to see which of these two items is causing the issues? Milk and no gluten should tell you which is causing the issues.
Hi and thank you for your reply. I did try one time a oat flapjack bar with a coffee and within a hour and a half stomach made the noises which lasted all day and night till passed bm in the morning which was coated in blood, then i left everything alone again for a few days all settled down and tried a chocolate bar this time within 2 hours all the same thing happened. Blood test results all came back normal but still await celiac blood test result. Is really strange as the doctor says calprotectin over 300 is higher then what would expect in food intolerances and the blood is not usually normal. 🙁
Have you already been tested for Celiac and are just waiting for the test results?
if you haven’t already tried it I would buy a small package of Lactaid or similar and take one or two (depending on the instructions for the particular brand you buy) just before consuming dairy products and if you no longer get the symptoms then there is at least a probability you have Lactose intolerance. It would seem to be an easy way to test yourself and possibly eliminate one of the possibilities. If you have already been tested for Celiac and are just waiting for the results then you could see what that shows first if you want.
Yes i have just been tested yesterday with a blood test for celiac and hopefully it shall show something as i have been gluten and dairy free for 3 and half weeks and everything is so much more settled but doctor seems to find it strange as he sent a referral to a GI due to raised calprotectin and blood on stools as he really finds that confusing with food intolerance so im unsure if that has happen for others and if it is possible or not likely.
Shall update once result is back and thank you so much.
Yes let us know the results and if it is not Celiac I would try the Lactaid before having dairy but you need to take it immediately before having dairy. That may solve the problem as well. I am lactose intolerant and if I don’t take a lactaid or other similar product I get a lot of cramps and pain after having dairy products. I also have Crohns so my CalProtectin is often higher than normal so can’t say whether lactose intolerance would raise that result or not.
Just a short update to what is going on i am still awaiting referral appointment to colorectal service (lower GI) which i think is a gastroenterologist. I have normal results from blood tests and normal result from celiac blood test although i was gluten and dairy free for 3 weeks, i have had a FIT test which has come back positive result of 94.6 and this has caused more concern to gp as calprotectin was 332 and now this is positive but i did advise them that i do have a ongoing anal fissure and possible internal piles, i also had a test for Giardia which was negative as i have started to wonder if maybe a parasite could be the cause. All my symptoms have calmed and awaiting referral and have retested calprotectin and FIT test today so be back next week but the strangest thing has come about my daughter started a week ago having same symptoms minus the blood and upon stopping gluten and diary she has also been better so i am really totally confused she is now having stools tested and will await for results to see if any light is shed. Hope all is well with everyone. I shall update once i know anymore and if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.
hi, I’m sorry this is happening to you. 😢 Sounds like IBD. Maybe Colitis or Crohns? What doctors don’t tell you because they just don’t know (some do) is that people like us have a damage lining in our colon. And, sugar, grains , dairy milk, chocolate, caffeine, and simple carbs cause us to get inflammation in our colon causing bleeding, mucus, and soreness. What you eat matters!!! All I can suggest is what helped me and thousands of others and that’s to look into The Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Starting with the Intro Diet. Ignoring our symptoms and continuing to eat a certain way will cause more damage. I hope the best outcome for you. I haven’t had a flare in years. And I take no medications anymore. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Update still no news from GI department but had another calprotectin test which is 1800 and another FIT test which is 200 i am still eating gluten and dairy free i feel ok within myself still have soreness from anal fissure and suffering constipation but maybe because of new diet changes, all stomach noises have stopped and wind has eased and visible blood on stools gone but yet these levels have raised instead of what i thought might be the case of them being lower so i am so very confused and upset.
Really just want to find out what all this is as my daughter is still also gluten and dairy free too so it seems we either have the same thing or some how she has something very much alike at the same time ( even more confusing).
