High White cell and neutrophils

I had a blood test last Thursday, on viewing it said both above normal on the white cell count and neutrophils. I'm still waiting for the others to come back like ferritin, B12, folate, liver function, CRP, thyroid function, vit d, calcium, lipids and U&E's. I have been feeling a bit rubbish but the pred I think has been keeping me functioning. I've just started to taper off it and worried that I'll just slump and basically retired to my bed. Can pred cause the white cells and neutrophils to be elevated or have I got something else going on. It just says satisfactory other and patient informed, but I haven't been informed about anything yet. I suppose they maybe waiting for the rest to come back and perhaps say something then or will they put it down to meds and crohn's.

To be honest I'm expecting my ferritin to be low and the B12. Folate and Vit D should be ok as I took folate last year and vit d I'm on a maintenance dose to bring that up as that's always low. Thyroid has never really been an issue. My bloods don't really show much but why say patient informed when I haven't been.

Sorry for going on a bit I just kind of feel brushed under the carpet a bit lol

They always say patient informed when they mean you have been informed of your results. I was waiting 15 months to find out why my white blood cells and neutrophils were low and eventually told they didn’t know. Now they are ok and something else it low. I would suggest you try not to worry and wait for all your results to be in then request to whoever ordered the blood test that you have an appointment to discuss the results. In the meantime you could look at the information with your medication to see if it could be a side effect. All the best with it.

I tend to get each test come through my patient portal as soon as the results are in. Most of my panels take up to two weeks to get all results back from a rheumatoid perspective. However, I get them one by one and no story can be figured out until they are all in. I try not to worry when I see something abnormal until all bloodwork is back and I hear from the doctor. If they are not responsive, this is an issue. If you get all labs back and find abnormalities, then you should be getting a phone call on what to do. I usually wait a few days after all results come back before I ring the office to understand the full results. I know how frustrating it all can be!

Just got yhe others this morning and it's just showing my folate is s bit low. Ferritin is 21 and B12 197. CRP is ok liver function is ok. Calcium raised which it is due to hyperparathyroidism. So basically just white cells high and folate low are the only issues 😊

Oh good. I had huge swing in liver enzymes on my last draw and had to come off some meds. I take 4 mgs of folic acid a day. I am on Humira and Methotrexate and prednisone when needed. I wonder if you have a small infection or inflammation somewhere with those white blood cells being up.

I haven't started any immunosuppressive drugs yet. I was on Budesonide but more recently prednisolone, which I've started to reduce now. I have an appointment with the gastro on 11th September so will know more maybe then. However I would prefer to just take yhe Budesonide for now

Please look up LDN for Chrons. It is heavily used and is an add on med. Used in the UK a ton. Not in the US as it is dirt cheap. It is a micro dose of Naltrexone which is used for opioid and alcohol withdrawal syndromes. It blocks pain and manages inflammation. A few weeks of sleep issues, but now it's a staple for me. To finally have a med that doesn't interact with other meds or cause more pain is a treat. I'm allergic to all pain meds so flares are very difficult. There is a LDN site here on HU as well.
