Hi, My appointment with the consultant went well yesterday and he prescribed biological meds Adalimumab as the azaphoprine I was on previously for UC worked but sadly caused liver cirrhosis!
Anyway, I haven’t tried these biological before, so feeling a little anxious about how and if they will work and the injections.
Any advice would be appreciated xx
thanks
Debbie

Will biologics work for you? It's a case of 'try it and see' for a few months. There are several other drugs which will be options if adalimumab doesn't help. The injections are not done with a syringe, it's a pre-loaded pen which you press on the skin and push the button on the top end. You will be shown by a nurse how to do it and supervised for your initial doses. Hope you find these do the trick! X
Hello Debbie,I started on Adalimumab 3 months ago for Crohns. I did feel a little nervous doing it myself but as mentioned a nurse will show you the first couple of times. It is a little painful when the fluid enters but this only lasts for a few seconds. I tend do in my leg and it takes a minute to return to normal walking on it.
Whether it works I'm yet to see. Had my 3 month check up last week. My calprotectin levels have come down from 300 to under 50 and my blood tests normal. I'm still not feeling great but the nurse said still very early days and my body just needs to adjust/recover over time.
