hi all

I have had the results of a stool test back after months of diarrhoea, it say my protein level is 450 I have a colonoscopy in three weeks time, my FIT test came back as normal. I have had IBS for over 30 years, my concern is the colonoscopy don’t show up anything, it’s been bad enough with being told it’s IBS be carful what you eat and drink, or follow the FODMAP diet. I have been battling this for so long, missed so much family functions due to my symptoms, I would not be bothered if they said I need a bag if it gives me some life back.

Hi, Your stool test suggests you have inflammation so that should be visible in the colonoscopy. Have you had blood tests too, which can show raised markers for inflammation? These things help to clarify whether it's IBS or IBD. Then there's a whole range of drug treatments to try before you get to the 'bag' option! Hope you end up with a result and some help with your symptoms.

please ensure that they take biopsies during the colonoscopy. With microscopic colitis, the inflammation is usually not visible and can only be seen under the microscope.
