Inflammation

Hi All..

I had a colonoscopy early June and have still recieved results. The consultant did tell me he saw inflammation and ulcers in my stomach. Does anyone else have periods where they just have no appetite and a really noisy stomach. Pain only appears on the right side..I'm not sure what's going on.

Have you chased your results? That’s a very long time without results.

Yep. They said they are extremely understaffed and have a big backlog..need to type letters etc.

I am sorry, but waiting for results for more than 5 months from the test is just NOT acceptable. Contact your GP to see if he/she has heard from the hospital, if not then I would contact PALS at the hospital and explain that you have been advised there is something that may require medical intervention (inflammation and ulcers) but as you have still not received your results you are unable to access the medical advice needed.

As a matter of fact, has the consultant put you on any medication? If he has, then you have a right to know what medical ailment he/she is treating you for, if you are not on medication, how are you supposed to get rid of the problem?

Thanks. Will do. Its very strange. The last time I rang I asked the secretary what the letter said and she said she can't say but as far as she can see I'm the consultant has discharged me?! He's not provided any medication.

I was due to see my consultant just at the start of lockdown 2019, there was a mix up regarding my appointment and unbeknown to me appointment had been cancelled and even more worrying they had discharged me from their service. All this time waiting and my symptoms got worse was really not coping with pain. I asked my GP to contact consultant that was when we found out about the mix up.

Thankfully see my consultant next week and my treatments will be restarted ( Colitis ). Best advice would be contacting your GP or consultant, it is totally unacceptable to be waiting for results for this amount of time. Hope you get it sorted soon.

That's too long to be waiting to hear results . If the consultant saw inflammation and ulcers, then surely they should follow that up with a treatment plan 🤔 I'd phone the consultants secretary and request a call back from the consultant who did the colonoscopy . Hope you get answers soon. Its such a worrying time getting tests etc and you just want to know what it is, get treatment and go from there . Good luck . 👍

Have you managed to speak to the consultant’s secretary or get your GP to chase yet? You need to keep on at them unfortunately.
