I am waiting for my colonoscopy to confirm my IBD diagnosis and I am feeling so horrible. Is it common to be nauseous and throw up sometimes with IBD? I also feel pain on the left pelvic area a lot and I just feel sick. I keep losing weight because I have no appetite and feel sick all the time.

Nausea and Throwing up

Hi there. So sorry to hear you are going through such a rough patch. Speaking from personal experience, yes it is common to suffer from nausea and vomiting as well as the pain and bloating you get with a flare up of inflammatory bowel disease. Have you tried peppermint or ginger tea, they can be quite soothing if you sip them slowly. You can also buy these little wrist bands (they are marketed for travel sickness) that act on the acu- pressure point that helps to control sickness. Hope this helps.
Hi Corabear. My son is in the same situation with nausea, weight loss, can only eat little & often to keep sickness at bay, has a hard pressing feeling on upper part of abdomen, constipation now and again and is due to have a colonoscopy. His whole life is affected at the mo and I am just grateful he is now feeling well enough to go to college again. He too uses the wrist band and has used ginger tea in the past. The only real thing that helped him was anti nausea tablets from doctors on prescription but they can only be taken for short periods as addictive but can get you through difficult or important times. So sorry you are suffering but hopefully you can move forward with treatment after colonoscopy. What was your calprotectin level do you know? Would be very interested to hear how you get on with colonoscopy and resulting diagnosis and treatment as my son will be waiting a while for his. Take care.
