Hi I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis around ten years ago and take steroids when it flares up. Over the last few months, I have been suffering from a lot of joint pain and very tender on the soles of my feet especially first thing in the morning. This is a new symptom to me and I just wanted to check if anyone else has this? I am waiting for my next consultant appointment but its been cancelled twice so just wondered if there is anything I can do in the meantime. Thank you

Hi, inflammatory athritis is common in IBD. Its worth asking your gastro for a referral to rheumatologist. Inflammatory arthritis is worse in mornings or after long periods of rest as the inflammation accumulates around the joints when they are still. as you move joints the inflammation is absorbed hence why after a while joints feel easier and less painful.
I have peripheral inflammatory arthritis and am waiting to see rheumatologist on monday as what has been a small ache and grinding in my lower back has worsened considerably. life with IBD is just a barrel of laughs lol x
